Lennox Lewis vs Larry Holmes

Holmes for me

 

I suspect Holmes would be able to outbox Lewis with his fantastic jab.Considering Holmes had a less than stellar chin(ask Renaldo Snipes) a Lewis knockout would be a distinct possibility.

 

prime Larry Holmes would have beat down Lewis with his jab and ko'ed him in the later rounds.

Larry Holmes was one of the most underrated fighters in history.

 

Have you ever seen the Holmes-Shavers fight??? Only K.O'd once in his entire career, by Prime Tyson?!?!?!? Should change him name to Larry Khan.

 

Larry was not a KO artist, no one he KOs Lennox Lewis.

Lennox had trouble with a jab on the off nights (Bruno), and small rings (Mercer)

All being equal, Lennox beats Larry convincingly as he is the ultimate heavyweight

 

Lewis, every single time. Five or ten years ago, Holmes was very underrated. I think this has now gone much the other way - the most common point around is that Holmes is underrated, which seems to be accepted as a reason to now allow unchallenged the argument he's one of the best of all time.

 

I honestly think this is the kind of fight that would end up being a draw. Both sides would have their arguments; I see both Larry and Lennox getting hurt, Larry winning rounds with his jab and Lennox winning rounds with his.....Both top-5 HW's of all time, so, a close one for me.

 

I've always gone with Holmes UD.

I'd like to think Holmes wouldn't be stupid enough to go for a knockout. Larry was normally a smart fighter, and he'd have to know that Lewis has exactly the right punch and heavy power that could well lead to Holmes getting floored if he tried to get up close too much. So instead I think Larry would rely on his jab, box smart and get the points victory.

 

Holmes UD. His jab is the better one, and that is the difference in this matchup in my opinion.

 

An old Holyfield gave prime Lewis all he could handle. And Don't forget a forty something Holmes gave peak Evander a great fight and arguably won 5 out of the 12 rounds.

Lewis is in my top 5, but he gets over rated a bit head to head simply because of his size. He was very fast for someone his size, but his speed wouldn't be a big asset against guys like Holmes.

 

Holmes UD, he did have the tendancy to brawl and get to macho but I see him outboxing Lewis with his superior handspeed and jab.

 

Lewis close UD, I think he uses his height to win.

 

Holmes by clear UD, too much speed IMO.

 

Lewis might knock out Holmes with a right but I am guessing Larry off the mat to win a SD.
