LL vs MM. double L vs double M, was actually going to happen once. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1864984914...fpPoK/Z8h5EaYJ6e/SNyMC2S1g==|tkp:BFBM0P7moLZk Who how and why?
Lewis KO, Moorer chin could let him down and while initially competitive, Lewis size would be a hellish tower to Moorer.
Despite Lewis being completely unproven vs southpaws, this is a match up i expect LL to win easily. Moorer was a terrific fighter at LHW and was even a very good heavy. But he was far too hittable. Perhaps he could catch LL with a right hook, the type of punch LL wouldn't know how to defend against. But LL's straight right is more likely to land first due to his reach advantage. Moorer ain't Usyk and doesn't have the defensive knowhow to get close enough to land the right hook. LL TKO 6.
As long as Lewis has no issue against southpaws, I don’t see anything Moorer has over Lewis other than hand speed, Lewis has better feet, stronger, harder puncher, better chin, Moorer would be a sitting duck for Lewis.
Early Moorer under Steward sure had firepower. Maybe someone dangerous like LL would bring that out of him... We can all be optimistic, can't we?!
Hmm? I think you're right, if McCall and Rahman could beat Lewis Moorer can at least be optimistic too.
I always felt like Moorer fought too much in one gear and didn't lift the pace enough. I don't see how Moorer fighting at his usual pace would have anything to trouble Lewis to be quite honest. Moorer was asked in a interview once about fighting Lewis and didn't seem to keen on it from my impression. Moorer had sharp punches and dangerous uppercut but he wouldn't have the range to make his offense works. Plus Moorer's chin wasn't exactly granite at Heavyweight either. Lewis would stop Moorer within 8 rounds by TKO.
If Lennox is in killer mode, he takes Moorer out fast. Holyfield dropped him in the second round (first fight), Lennox drops him and he doesn't make it up.
Might have to make a Moorer fantasy redemption thread after this one to clean my wounds. How about Moorer Vs Chuvalo?
Moorer definitely had more than enough firepower for Lewis. But, of course, he didn't have the chin to take Lewis power himself. Moorer was excellent boxer, very smart with absolutely brilliant combinations, but I think he would be to small and to hittable to avoid getting hit by Lennox. Unless Lewis struggles badly against southpaw stance (which we don't know since he never fought one), I think he would time Moorer with a right hand somewhere in mid rounds and stop him soon. Lewis KO 6-8 looks the most likely result for me, but there is still some questions since Lewis' has never proven himself to be able to deal with southpaw stance, which might be very tricky task. Karl Mildenberger gave Ali much tougher fight than guys like Terrell, Quarry or Ellis who were much better boxers than him. Simply because he was southpaw. Fury vs Wallin is another good example. Or look at RJJ - until he became shot, ALL the guys who gave him most problems in the rings were southpaws. Griffin, Harding, Del Valle and, of course, Tarver.
Lemmie by murder..... Glass cannon Moorer went life and death with Journeyman Cooper, caught Holyfield on a malfunctioning PED cycle and was one punch stopped by a genuine Fossil who in his fight before could not get past Tommy Chin..... To add insult to injury Moorer went 24 rounds with circuit fillers Schulz and Botha Bowe, Lewis and even washed up post prison Tyson run thru Moorer like a hot knife thru butter, uncompetitive blowouts..........even Prime Moorer would get wasted every single time by a second rater in Tua.................wait, he did get wasted in like ten seconds in real life.
In the case of Mildenberger, keep in mind that he was the very first southpaw to ever challenge for the heavyweight title. The second southpaw to ever challenge for the heavyweight title was admittedly china chinned but tall and spirited Richard Dunn, a decade later. This time, after Ali entertained the audience, he went directly to his darting right lead. Put Mildenberger in place of Dunn, then Karl doesn't do as well as he did in 1966. (BTW, I believe Ali was in the best shape for Dunn of any of his second reign defenses, at a trim 220, just six weeks after he was so grotesque against Young. Of course he was older, but this was his lowest weight for any 1970's defense. But then came the Inoki farce which nearly resulted in an amputated leg and no more ability to generate stoppage power, then the life shortening Shavers bout.)
