Size doesnt really matter if your taken out of your comfort zone, and weve seen Lewis have very poor technique when he was taken out of his comfort zone. Briggs, Mercer Bruno all gave him fits. Tyson at his best would be bringing elusive pressure and punching from all angles. It would be interesting to see how Lewis handled it. He could punch hard, but Tyson was going to get hit like he did when they fought and he would be a lot more accurate with his offense, not throwing one wide looping hook. There is no comparison to the Tyson that fought Lewis.

serious question...why is the spinks win so easily dismissed by so many, as is spinks as a hw by so many when the guy had just beaten, controversially for sure, the great larry holmes...TWICE.....

i feel its difficult to compare opponents as styles make fights....i honestly feel that a prime holyfield for examp,e will always beat any version of tyson..he just has mikes number....i think prime holy would have beaten lewis.....i cant see how anyone thinks that tyson would have kayoed mercer..yes, he would have beaten him, but kayoed..i dont think so...a close, give and take fight....morrison??..morrison was a solid contender but essentially a poor mans tyson without the chin, so tyson would have destroyed tommy.....

prime tyson is a very short period, about 15 minutes haha...and yes, its easy to detract from his accomplishments by picking fights he undertrained for or was sick for or was lazy in...and yes, you have to give lewis so much more credit because he was the better professional, end of story...he didnt turn up undertrained, unfoccussed etc...(except that last fight with vk when even a fat, lazy lennox showed his fighter heart and pulled it out...)....BUT....that PRIME, PEAK tyson..the young, focussed hw who steam rollered thru his opponents, who, even according to one of his biggest detractors, teddy atlas, trained very, very hard in the gym, who possesed middlweight speed combined with explosive power and elusive, underrated defensive skills, would have been a handful for ANY hw....and i just think THIS tyson beats any version of lewis

  4. mike tyson could not ko james smith who was not a mobile fighter and he did not have iron chin. Noway tyson would ko david tua or even mercer. And i personally think that tyson would not beat a peak holyfield 90-91. And much less tyson 99 would beat holyfield99.morrison and tua might well hurt tyson seriously. LEWIS DID BEAT HOLYFIELD AND VITALI , THEY BOTH WOULD BEAT ANY VICTIM OF TYSON.

tyson vs smith is one of his worst performsances, and the question as i recall is basically would the BEST version of tyson beat the BEST version of lewis...

Tyson was in his prime, but not a great performance but still a one sided win.

  7. :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:lol::patsch when tyson could not destroy a rival he was not in his prime , but months later he was in his prime again right? pathetic... simply pathetic....

Tyson was in his prime against Smith and he won the fight one sidedly.

  9. of course he was in his prime. and he was in his prime too against buster douglas, if he did not train it is his fault, but he was 24years old, he was in his peak.douglas had problems too, his mother was died. the point is, no way tyson would ko a prime mercer o david tua who had iron chin.

the very best tyson is what id consider 'prime'...ergo, an off night, albeit in a fight he won handliy should not be considered 'prime'......prime, for me, does not cover a timescale, it covers the best version of the fighter on any given night....the tyson who demolished, clinically and cruelly, tyrell biggs for instance would be a prime version..the one that dispatched the old holmes..STILL larry ****ing holmes...would be aprime version...there are other fights too...maybe my take on what 'prime' means is different than you guys and if so i apologise for any misunderstanding, but i do stand by my assertion that the best version of tyson beats the best version of lewis..not easily mind as many predict, but wins nonetheless

No he wasnt in his prime against Douglas. Maybe physically he was, but not as a fighter. He started to decline after the Spinks fight which ulitmately led to a loss, two tough fights and then prison.

EXACTLY. I had a deep conversation with another member on here that enlightened me about the Spinks win. Here is a list of other Light Heavies in their bid at winning the Heavyweight Championship. Spinks may have been a blown Light Heavy but so was...

Gene Tunney, and he beat Jack Dempsey...TWICE.

Billy Conn, and it took Joe Louis a lot more than 91 seconds to get the job done.

Archie Moore and Ezzard Charles, who gave Rocky Marciano all he could handle.

Michael Moorer, who beat a prime Holyfield.

Roy Jones, who beat a better version of John Ruiz than David Haye.

Tomasz Adamek, and he beat Chris Arreola who is a good win for Vitali Klitschko.

And of course Michael Spinks, who out of all the 80's fighters, besides Tyson, beat Holmes....TWICE.

I was reading some old articles the other day surrounding the fight and its amazing so many people picked Spinks to comfortably outbox Tyson.

  14. IT IS REALLY BORING AND RIDICULOUS, THE TYSONFANS INVENT WHEN TYSON WAS IN HIS PRIME, WHEN HE LOOKED LIKE A KILLER AGAINST A SHOT HOLMES, THEN HE WAS PRIME TYSON, HE COULD NOT KO AN AVERAGE FIGHTER LIKE SMITH, THEN HE WAS NOT IN HIS BEST SHAPE, HE DESTROYED A LHW SPINKS IN HIS 30s,OR A BUM LIKE BERBICK IN HIS 30s THEN HE WAS IN HIS PRIME. RIDICULOUS, SIMPLY RIDICULOUS. AND A PEAK HOLYFIELD 90-91 WOULD HAVE BEAT "PRIME" TYSON ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.
