If one believes he may not win..YES...lewis himself admits he never fought Tyson at his peak and acknowledges that...if you think that wasn't in the back of his head the entire time Tyson was tearing thru everyone your delusional.

You've officially made my ignore list. The out and out stupidity of some of these comments is mind-boggling. I remember
When Aol had a boxing forum about 12 years ago and l'd be discussing boxing with people like The iceman John Scully. Even this site is usually has great knowledgeable posters but it's starting to quickly become a waste of time listening to someone tell me a fighter planned his whole career around avoiding another fighter. Beyond the fact it's a moronic statement to begin with,
fighters usually don't get to pick who they fight they have managers and promoters to do that..

Lewis. His jab and uppercut are kryptonite to Tyson. The only exception I could envision is if Tyson were to catch him like Rahman did. Other than that, it's all Lewis IMHO.

But why doesn't the same logic apply for Tyson/Tillis, Tyson/Green?

Hence why I bought up the Occasio fights.

If Lewis decides to play it safe, no, no I don't think he would. He has too much pride. Things could get interesting really quick out of the flood gates. Momentum shifts from round 1 on as both men stun the other until Lewis starts to hold.

In earlier fights with Tyson, opponents tying him up proved successful at stalling the inevitable. Mike didn't fight the best inside but here he'd need to step his game up. Lewis could also land that bolo punch - right hook to the body / uppercut to the head combo that Tyson was so fond of.

By tying Tyson up and Tyson allowing it, Lewis thinks he can take control and starts to load up, but Tyson digs to the body with a right, followed by a left hook to the head and then right hook to the head combination. His coup de grace that sends Lennox looking for that soft spot on the canvas.

    Prime for prime...Tyson KO 6

Strangely enough l think the younger quicker more agressive version of Lewis who fought Razor would give Tyson the most trouble. He might get caught but he might also hurt Tyson early which could change the whole dynamics of the fight. It might allow him to control the distance of where they fought, especially if Lewis could hurt Tyson as he tries to get on the inside. From a strategic point of view l thought the fight that Lewis fought was damn near perfect.

I sort of have the odds at around 50-50 so l think either fighter could win.

more than getting unpaid amateur days being sponsored perhaps by Burger King if hes lucky.

    money >> no money

people who are not living in their mommas basement, and people over age 14, are generally aware of this.

BUt I see you want to stick to your failed argument you are being hammered for, that boxers prefer to remain unpaid amateurs for years so as to avoid other boxers. Good luck with that. Say hi to your momma from me when she comes up with yuor breakfeast

His argument is beyond stupid but l do think athletes grow up wanting to win an Olympic Gold metal and given how close he was he decided to give it a second chance. I honestly don't understand why he gets so much criticism for doing so. I sort of view it as someone getting out of high school. You can either get a job or you can get more education. Tyson picked the job option (turning professional) and Lewis the education.(stay an amateur). The difference being Lewis had a choice which direction to take, Tyson didn't. And to some extent it probably mirrors their upbringing.

I agree with your first line. I feel young Lennox was more dangerous but also had a lot of bad qualities to be exploited. He'd get Mike's respect early on, and then those negative traits would eventually catch up with him. Tyson's countering, even post Douglas (Ruddock fights) could've been Lennox's downfall.

What a sweet fight it could've been! :good

I agree wholeheartedly. I think going 10 with Tillis was a good learning fight for Mike. He improved quite a bit after that fight. And, I will add that the Tillis Mike fought was a better and more dangerous fighter than the Ocassio that fought Lewis. They were both development fights.

Remember the Tyson vs Tucker fight...

A couple of impressive rounds from a strong Lewis with the jab and uppercut to catch Tyson coming in when Tyson goes through his spell of that 'one punch KO' urge, but the outcome would be similar where Tyson eventually wears the bigger man down with intelligently applied body shots, and a '6,4' combo leading to a decisive points victory.

But then, if a poor Lennox Lewis fought that night, and exposes his chin a bit too much, he would be flattened within 6 rounds.

Lewis still wins. People make way to much of Tyson being past prime. They conveniently forget that Lewis was also past it to. Tyson may do slightly better than their actual encounter or worse.
