Thats part of greatness my man. How would you look at Lewis' record if he never avenged those two losses?

Here is a scenario to think about. Lewis gets knocked out by McCall and Rahman, but doesn't fight them again. The successfully revenged rematches are replaced by wins against Moorer in 97 and W Klitschko in 2001. Personally, I think his resume wouldn't be as solid.

    Thoughts, please.

I have to agree that the unavenged losses would still hurt him. But boy would it have been nice to see him ad Moorer and Klitschko to his collection of heads. Chris Byrd would have been a nice one too.

It's Wealthy Elite/Snorlax/I am Legend. His man-love for Tyson, like all young white kids, is impregnable.

FACT: Buster Douglas had a shaky jaw
FACT: Tyson did hurt Douglas in their fight
FACT: Douglas went right back to completely befuddling and outclassing Tyson like he already had for seven-and-a-half rounds, then knocked him down and watched as he sat on the canvas playing with his mouthpiece rather than get up.
FACT: Douglas' chin, defense, or recovery powers were not better than Lewis, he didn't hit anywhere near as hard, he was smaller, he wasn't any more skilled, and in general he wasn't in the class of Lewis.

No it isn't, because it proves you have the capacity to perform better.

Douglas on that night was better than lewis. His hands were lightyears quicker, his jab was WAY better than that pawing excuse for jab lewis has, he was much more fluid, a better combination puncher and was way quicker on his feet as well having superhuman determination that night.

When did Lennox ever get off the canvas to win, none the less get up and beat a fighter the caliber of Tyson?

Maybe he needed a parent to die ;)

Needless to say we never seen him quit like Douglas did either.

When had Douglas ever done it before? Or after, for that matter?

Not really, he used a fairly basic boxing gameplan and the same combination of punches over and over again, and Tyson's typically one dimensional self had no answer to it. Douglas looked and fought the same way he had for quite some time, and no one was touting him as anything spectacular before that.

So you're eliminated Buster doing it in a fight that important and massive because he didn't do it again, as opposed to Lewis NEVER doing it?

    The recovery bit is bull****.

Yes, because the "important and massive" fight you speak of came against the very fighter whose abilities are being debated here.

Not really, you've just chosen to look at it from one angle and make that out to be the be all and end all.

What about the times each man has quit after being hurt? Or simply laid on the ropes and been stopped on his feet? Or been stopped or KO'd, period? Who was criticized more for a lack of heart and resilience in general?

    I love those Lewis apologists.

Avenged his defeats. Yeah , against a crackhead sparring partner punching bag whose only claim to fame is to lay Lemmie out, oh i forgot , he was almost outpointed by a ancient Holmes who was in such great shape that he puked at the end of the twelvth..........in the Rahman fight both looked like **** and Rahman was ready to cry/looking for a way out after the little cut before he landed the slowwww right hand which again proved that Lemmie's chin ain't glass but can't take flush shots...........

Took bombs from Bruno, lol, so jabs are bombs now ?

Tua ? lol x 2 , sat on his ratings fighting lay downs like Sullivan, getting fat and then putting up one of the most pathetic efforts in recent memory ?

Tucker ? Could not finish him despite knockdowns and Tuckers road, I mean coke to glory, while recycled by my buddy Donny Kingster and "little" Mike about shut him out when Tucker was undefeated in his prime years before..............yeah, big man are a real problem.

So, after all the leftovers, washed ups , never were or simply having the big rep of loosing ANY big fights they were ever in I have a hard time finding some quality fighters on Lewis resume who do not fit the above. Michael " let me try boxing" Grant or the Yugo Mohawk guy must be the ones or is it freebaser Butler who was MIA , literally, 1 hour before their fight .

In conclusion, while a good, but very cautious fighter who deserves respect but could never draw flies on his own unless some other big name was involved. Carefully managed similar to Manny Pac feasting on shopworn household names who had been in the spotlight for one to many and finally meeting a guy in his PRIME , with talent and size, he took the high road after getting a gift tko...........and of course never gave a rematch despite holding the belt hostage and running his mouth.

So , I guess , he is the only one allowed to "avenge" his losses, when the shoe is on the other foot he simply got old , tired, fat , past his prime, nothing to proove etc etc.
