The general feel I get from this forum so far is that people think Ali is the best heavyweight of all time. Tyson, and Lewis seem to be close second. I could be mistaken. Who do you think was the better fighter, and who do you think would win out of these two and why?

Both at their best, I really dont know although i may give tysn the edge simply becuse he could change the course of this fight with one punch while lewis although a big puncher himself cant get rid of tyson with one shot. What i liked the most about lewis' performance against tyson was how he stepped into tyson everytime tyson tried loading up a bomb and kind of smothered him. Tyson didnt land a single overhand right. Prime tyson would be so much faster and quicker on the trigger but lewis' management of distance was still superb

Tyson had much better footwork and defense at his best than what Lewis faced in 2002. The main difference between a Tua and Tyson is ring IQ with speed of two handed attacks,Tyson just didn't stand there like a target unlike Tua..The comparison for Tyson and Lewis would be night and day to that match that Lewis won against Tua.,who is the closest thing to a Tyson ,Lewis defeated.

Tyson of the late 80's vs Prime Lewis ( whatever you think that is) would be favored over Lennox . I see Lewis getting hit early anywhere from round 1 to 4 and panicking setting up either a knockout loss or the entire tempo of the fight where he then has to hold on for dear life and lose a decision,Tucker style. I do believe Lewis could win if they fought enough times,i just wouldn't favor him against a sub 220 pound Tyson under Rooney, there's to many fights to me that suggest he would get rocked and have difficulties here,in contrast of how a motivated performed at times against big tall jabbers, the main difference Lewis could punch but that may just make Tyson that better knowing Lewis was also Cus Damato's pick to be a possible future champion and having spared Lewis as a kid with no refine skills to a stand still.

Tyson would have got in on Lewis and knocked him out in 5 or won a dominant 12 rounder.

The younger version of Lewis, pre mccall loss would have struggled against the pre Douglas version of tyson. That tyson would have capitalised on some of the mistakes that Lewis made. Lennox would probably have tried taking out tyson with a big right hand and would have paid for it. But the latter day Lewis under Stewart, the heavier version would have stopped tyson late on. He would have jabbed tyson more, held on using his body weight to lean on tyson and frustrated him. Eventually some time late rounds he would stop him.

The TS seems to completely ignore that Lewis actually beat up Tyson. At their best, Lewis UD Tyson. Mike has the puncher's chance, that is it. I see Lewis playing it safe, and getting the W

I say tyson wins it. Lewis even looked wary of the 2002 finished version of tyson. People seem to forget as the years go by but i cant remember any of the heavyweights around that era being phenomenons. What i m saying is if these guys we,re so good...why was everyone talking about tyson. Kind of explains itself really.

Lewis showed vulnerability in one punch ko losses to McCall and Rahman and he struggled to
a MD against Mercer. Lewis showed too much respect to Tua power and was too cautious in
decision win . Because of these reasons a prime Tyson the fight would end up as carbon copy
of the Tucker fight. Tyson on points.

Lewis didn't like pressure, mercer showed that. Mercer and Tyson are different but it's possible Tyson would pressure Lewis in a similar way and get him out of his comfort zone. When Lewis can't control a fight he can struggle. There is also the fact that Lennox could be hurt, if Tyson managed that it's likely he would go in for the kill.
On Lewis's side he has the tools and size to keep Tyson at bay, and the power to make Tyson wary which could be a problem. It's difficult to pick against a seasoned in his 30s Lewis against a 22, 23 year old kid that had not faced anyone of this skill level.
I think I generally go with tysons pressure though, and his movement, I think this would give Lennox problems.

Lennox was a great clincher under Steward (unlike pre-Steward Lewis). That could be a problem for Mike who would be tied up by Lennox every time he gets too close.

Tyson could have never beaten Lewis if Lewis was ready, the only difference would be could Mike last the distance

Best for best, I think I take Lewis.

But if somebody like the Billups Lewis showed up, Tyson would savage him.

The only people who think Tyson is one of the greatest are ghetto idiots. The only people who think Ali was the greatest are people who don't know boxing but love to repeat what they heard somebody else say.

Tyson has stated he knew he would never beat Lewis no matter when they fought. Tyson was a hype job and would of been always stopped by Lewis.

tyson would stop him. he would land, and lewis would not take it good.

tyson could take lewis power, vice versa no. some of ruddock punches that tyson took were devastating and tyson didn't even flinch.

I used to think Tyson would overcome Lewis but after deeply analyzing his record and watching a lot of his fights I have to pick Lewis on this one. Tyson's title run is utterly weak. By the time he fought someone who could fight back he got knocked out. Douglas isn't even a top 20 atg heavyweight. Then he fights a strew of weak opponents and gets knocked out by Holyfield and does pretty much nothing after that aside from beating Savarese and Golota.

Lewis would knock Tyson out every time because he can keep Tyson off of him with his punches and smother his punches by clinching. If Lewis boxed Tyson then he gets knocked out every time. However since Lewis has Manny Steward in his corner that wouldn't happen.

Yeah no one Tyson fought in his title run could fight back, they were all tied up and drugged by don king. Oliver McCall, ray mercer and Hasim rahman were top 5 ATG's right? And no way does tyson ever get a punch in on lewis and win right? Lewis wins EVERY time right?
Come on man be real. I dont know who wins at their best but even the shot 2002 version of tyson would knock lewis out once if they fought 20 times hypothetically.
