I'd pick Ali simply based on the fact that Lewis never fought a similar fighter. He'd struggle greatly with his mobility, he would get outjabbed like he did on several ocassions in his career (eg Bruno, Mercer who were no bigger than Ali) and his low activity would hurt him a lot. Ali by decision.

Im not so sure about that? The Ali brain wash thing is actually a real thing .I would assume many people would lie dead with a bullet hole in them .any true boxing analysts ( sorry so called EXPERTS arent out wordly aliens ) are going to see a huge advantage for Lewis,it would be a very easy fight for him to cruise to 12 actually if he wanted to, and Ali would not be able to do anything about it. Aggressive lewis may lose some rnds bc he may get outpointed for a few rounds but aggressive Lewis would eventaully get to Ali and K.o him late if Ali is fighting perfectly ( something he would need to do unlike lewis)

Im actually shocked the poll is close ,would figure on any forum ali is usually a 80% mark or so and usually no one has an actual beleivable point as to why.

Lewis's size advantage makes me favor him here. He wasn't as quite good at herding someone before his jab as Wlad, though, and I won't rule out that Ali might find his timing against him and eke out a decision with jabs to Lewis's body and right hands over his jab. But I think Lewis should get a decision if he fights a really smart and controlled fight. And he was capabable of that.

Ali, better chin, better movement, faster jab. Ali is about the same height as Bruno, not a significant height adventage for Lewis.

It's Lewis. Ali s jab s going to cause him a few problems but on his best day Lewis had a good strong one. Ali s not going to be the stronger man in the clinches either. Lewis uppercut will be in coming during the fight which will hurt Ali a few times. Ali won't be totally dominated but Lewis I think will be in front through the fight so Lewis gets a unanimous win

I find that hard to believe. They talk about Lewis struggling with guys like Bruno and Mercer, but Lewis beat both these guys, one of them by stoppage. Have you seen they guys Ali lost to, a half blind midget outboxed Ali, and he lost twice to China chinned Norton, who were both put in there rightful place by Foreman, which is exactly what Lewis would do to both of them.

Errr, you do realize Ali was past it when he fought Norton, don't you? And I always felt it was 50/50 between Lewis and Mercer(who even out jabbed Lennox, much like Bruno did), a fighter that Lennox had every single physical advantage over.

Ali of course. Speed kills. No one was as quick as prime Ali. Over 15 rounds I don't see Lewis lasting to the final bell. He would be slashed to death.

Note to the amateurs.....size is not a factor.

I think these two are the most problematical heavyweight champions for the others to deal with.I'll go with Ali by decision ,based on his better agility and all round speed. Very tough fight for both men, imo.

This has to be a tough fight for Ali. Lewis's size would be an issue, and his punch power. as great as Ali's chin was could he take too many uppercuts or right hands? Ali had the movement to present problems, and speed, so I guess he could possibly out box Lewis. Its hard to count Ali out because of his mentality, I think when it comes down to it his refusal to lose against the odds has to be a factor. He proved what he could do when presented with ridiculously tough challenges. Lewis was also mentally tough but he never faced anyone with the mentality of Ali. I think Ali would find a way to win, he just had more tools and was a quick thinker in the ring as well, not sure if Lewis's mental process was as sharp when in combat.

Lewis was just too slow and thats what it would come down to. His cement feet and low hands allow Ali rack up the points to a decision win.
Ali would have to be at his best though and the 12 rounds would give him the confidence to keep the fight in motion non stop ...he'd have to in order avoid contact in the wheel house at all cost. Lewis was smarter and better on the inside than Foreman.

Lewis at his best would imho beat Ali.

But Lewis could be inconsistent. Over a series of fights, I think I'd pick Ali.
