It is, but it's also funny to see these fools argue this way :nut

I'm an American, but living in a fantasy world is not going to bring the US back in the HW div. And TBH, I see nothing that will anytime soon.
Sadly, even most poor* Americans in the US have become fat, dopey, and no longer have the guts for the fight game.

    * the usual pool of fighters in any nation

    Tommo,

He wasn't gangly or punch weak. There's no way it would have been a mismatch, and the fact that Manny Steward was unable to give a definitive outcome when pressed, speaks volumes.

Ha! You are in a crazy fantasy. He'd have been lucky to get out the first round? Not according to an ATG trainer who trained LL for years.

Anybody can be psyched out. Nobody thought a young Clay could get into Liston's head.

    They were decent fighters.

I can spin things too. I'm certain that Frazier and Foreman would have gone through the majority of Lennox's resume.

Yes, because at 25 years old, he looked in perfect condition.

    Ali wouldn't have feared Lewis.

Your posts never cease to amaze me.

How could a fighter that fought 40 years ago have been able to compete with a modern guy? :patsch

Look at your two examples of Ali. You're that dumb, you've left out the one version that could have been in a very competitive fight with LL. Unless you've done it on purpose?

Clay who got dropped by Cooper, was young and hadn't matured.

The Ali that fought Foreman, was a very old 32 year old that had lost his physique and his footwork, and who'd got many miles on the clock.

So I'd have to agree that Lennox would have beaten those two versions.

But Ali in 1967, at 25, before the ban, was a matured fighter in peak physical condition. He'd filled out and become a man. He was strong, skilled, had blazing hand speed, fantastic reflexes, and perfect balance. His footwork and timing were superior to any other HW who's ever fought. No HW has ever had footwork as good as Ali at 25.

The further that you go back in time, you'll realise that boxers as a whole were better back then.

A boxers craft has diminished overall, and skills that were passed on through all time great trainers have been lost.

I don't see many double hooks these days, or great body shots and uppercuts etc. Stamina is also a major concern with today's fighters.

Pick any weight class of your choice, and then name the best 5-10 fighters who's ever fought there.

You don't have to do it based on accomplishments, you can do it on H2H basis.

The majority of the best fighters will be from the past.

With regards to your HW examples, it's this simple.

    Styles make fights.

A lot of modern day HW's would beat HW's of the past.

But likewise, a lot of HW's of the past would beat modern HW's.

Anybody that doesn't understand that, doesn't have know a ****ing thing about boxing.

60s Ali has little going for him against big, modern HWs. He can run away then he'd lose on points. Or he comes to fight and get his chin cracked by punchers who outweight him by 40 lbs. Complete mismatches.

Ali has little going for him?

He was 6'3 and would have had clear advantages in skill, speed and footwork over most modern guys.

    Run away?

Ali's footwork = Slipping, feinting, keeping a guy off balance, making him miss, timing him, and countering etc.

He beat Foreman, Frazier and Norton past prime, when heavier and slower, but yet wouldn't be able to beat big modern HW's in his PRIME?

    Complete mismatches? Ha!

A past prime Lewis would have destroyed Foreman, Frazier and Norton in brutally one-sided mismatches. A past prime Ali went life and death with them. Just some food for thought :deal

Ali was a great of his era 50 years ago, not a guy who'd have a chance against modern day greats.

Lewis couldn't demolish washed up , cocaine addict Tony Tucker 7 years after he was beaten by Tyson. Ali in his prime never came close to being demolished by anybody.

If Lewis couldn't knock out his opponent his limited skills were exposed.

His one and only gameplan was to look for the knockout with his right hand.

He had shoddy footwork and bad ballance. MacCall said he had two left feet.

Ali's footwork and movement was in a different leauge which is going to cause Lewis fits trying to pin him down to land a right hand.

He also had a better and faster jab. Lewis wanted no part of 90's era Holmes because of his jab.

Lewis had no head movement and would be played with and counterd all night by Ali.

There is not a single fighter today, at any weight, who has the footwork of Ali.

Now when you look at HW's? Wow! Ali's handspeed, footwork, and stamina alone were light years ahead of anyone fighting today. Anyone.

Plus, he had a chin, heart, and did I mention his blazing handspeed?

Not saying he would dominate this era, or even go undefeated. But to say he would be blown out of there? Ali was 6'3 220, with a longer reach than most of these Super Heavys today. I just can't see him getting blown out based on size alone, especially against fighters who are much slower, and poor footwork and ring generalship in comparison.
