No way could Lewis take Tyson`s power, Mike knocked people out with counters and they always catch you by surprise.
Up 1:51 Tyson had thrown four body shots against Tucker, he landed a body shot then a right to the head in a combo because it`s very hard to defend the head and body at the same time, prime Tyson threw more combo`s and up to this point Tyson was only head hunting against Lewis, a feature of Tyson`s work after Rooney left from his corner team.
Mark Ant I'm guessing you're one of these Tyson in his prime was an invincible beast who would KO Ali, Lewis, Holmes etc. ?? Your boy was a mental midget who while tremendously talented and athletically gifted was a bully who crumbled against good fighters who stood their ground and fought back. I'm not going debate you with you anymore on this because I just noticed you quoted and replied to one of your own posts, what that means I'm not quite sure but I'm out of here.
Smith and Tucker were very effective at nullifying Tyson's offense, but at the same time they landed next to nothing on him! They both made the silent pact, and left the end result in no doubt. I do not think that Lewis would want to hug his way to a UD loss. He would be a lot more proactive, and that would give Tyson opportunities. I guess that Lewis would fight a bit like Douglas, and that Tyson would not be lazily head hunting like he was against Douglas. This would have been one for the ages!
Lewis is not called Chinny Lenni for nothing. Even though the actual fight they had was very one sided, i saw enough in that 2002 one sided fight that a young Tyson would comfortably get inside any version of Lewis and get his combinations to finish him. And yes Lewis will be very lucky to land more than one punch against a 1985-88 Tyson and even if he does, Tyson reacts to his punches the same way he took Razor Ruddock's smash. Lewis is not brave enough, he was over cautious against a corpse of Tyson in 2002, there is no way he will not be vary against a young Tyson.
Shallow way of thinking. Lewis had the size and strength to tie Tyson up when need be and his immense uppercuts would also play their part. Tyson was still dangerous and extremely aggressive for a short time even when they fought and Lewis showed his intentions with some furious uppercuts. It's an open affair but in between frustrating and tiring Tyson i think Lewis would wear him down with bombs.
Don`t bother debating, but just to let you know Tyson hitting Ali on the chin isn`t the same as hitting Lewis on the chin, also no way could Lewis have got off the floor Shavers landed the right hand he landed on Holmes inflicting one of the most iconic moments in boxing.
