i think a draw was fair but mercer did just as much as lewis, so i dont see why ray couldnt win the fight.

    Mercer should have won.

It couldn't have gone 'either way' because Lewis heading into the 7th was at worst in a 3-3 situation.

He arguably won Round 7 and completely won Rounds 8,9 and 10.

At worst you can say it's a 6-4 LL victory. That was the best version of Mercer and Lewis clearly won 6-4, 7-3.

96-94 to Lewis. Close competitive fight. One of my favourite Lewis fights. Showed he could stand and trade, throw combinations and grind out a win if he had to.

Larry Holmes definitely beat Mercer. Larry Holmes the ultimate G. Larry Holmes kicked me.

I think a draw would have been appropriate.

Mercer was too heavy and gassed late in the fight. Had he come in lighter he wouldn't have got tired and could have had a little higher workrate which definitelywould have won him the fight.

The same Mercer who lost to an old Larry Holmes....

man what happened to heavyweight boxing?

we have old semi retired completely shot to pieces Hasim Rahman fighting Povetkin in a title bout

BTW i think Mercer edged out that fight over Lewis. Did enough to win IMO

i had lewis winning by two points.

close fight that was great to watch.

the americans mostly say mercer won the fight, but that's because they NEVER EVER lose close fights. strange but true. even when an american fighter loses the fight clearly they still say their man won.

I had it a 95-95 draw the first time I scored it and the second time I watched it many years later I had it 96-95 Mercer. A very close fight, could have been scored either way. Lennox was lucky to get the W that night for sure.
