If Bowe trains for Lewis like he did for Holyfield, I envision Lewis losing in a colossal battle, possibly by knockout. Then again Lewis would train like a demon for Bowe as well but he'd go for the knockout and get exposed for being pre-prime. Might look similar to the Bruno-Lewis bout with Bowe surviving some rough moments but ultimately winning in the end. Remember, at the Olympics Bowe was handling Lewis until the sudden BS stoppage from the abysmal referee.
Your comment about the Lennox Lewis vs Riddick Bowe Olympic final looks to me like you didn't even watch the fight, or you are deeply biased in favor of Riddick Bowe. 5:02 This content is protected 5:02 Riddick Bowe certainly won the first round at the Olympics, and in the second round Lennox Lewis simply overpowered Riddick Bowe. 5:02 Bowe (4:59) takes a power punch to the head, where the referee calls a knockdown. Riddick Bowe starts cheering as if Lennox Lewis is getting knocked down, and he doesn't even realize that the referee is counting him (Bowe doesn't know where he is). 5:02 So there was no "sudden BS stoppage from the abysmal referee". 5:02 If you want to be biased, it will only diminish your boxing knowledge; do not increase. 0:30 This content is protected 0:30 Lennox Lewis: "I knocked you out". Riddick Bowe: "Do it again". So Riddick Bowe admits he was knocked out at the Olympics. 0:30
Pre 1994 Bowe wins, after that it's a beating for Bowe. A very small time frame for me where Bowe has a good chance.
I agree. Both guys primes were in sligthtly different timeframes - Bowe 1991/93 and Lewis 1997/99. Best Lennox beats best Riddick. In '93 Bowe stops Lewis after coming from behind.
This is a big unknown! Lewis was the better in the amateurs and fully seasoned in the pro's, but this is a time when Bowe was fully developed and had Eddie Futch as he trainer and Lewis didn't have Steward in his then and had balance issues and was easier to hit. So I like Bowe in this particular time. Of corse if both were at their best, which wasn't the thread question I prefer Lewis.
The biggest difference would be the mentality, Lewis oozes confidence while Bowe on the other hand...
I would favour Bowe (Holyfield) against any version of Lewis. The determining factor I see is Bowe has the better chin.
Bull**** stoppage and everyone here but you knows it! And Bowe was saying "Do it again!" as if to say the first 'stoppage' was anything but.
Sangria is right, that was a bs stoppage, even the announcer thought so. Bowe was jumping up and down, waving his hands. He was the OPPOSITE of incapacitated. That ref helped Lewis win that gold imo. Bowe told Lewis so.
