As you know, this fight never happened. But if it did, who would have won?

I think Lewis would have won by stoppage. Bowe had some of the worst defense I've ever seen in a HW.

Lewis by stoppage at any point of their careers. There was a reason Futch kept Bowe away from Lewis.

Lewis. Bowe was more fluid and slightly more skilled than Lennox but he had doubts over whether he could beat Lennox imo. Bowe I preferred though to win if they fought, at least he was likeable !

I think Bowe ducked Lewis for a reason and that was he thought he wouldn't win. Lewis by KO.

I lean towards Lewis but talent for talent, I don't think there was much in it.Lewis had more discipline.

Bowe's chin is questionable and he is too indisciplined. Lewis stops him very likely

Best for best, Bowe KO Lewis.

I think Bowe has more boxing ability and a more natural fighter with a better chin and heart.

Bowe maybe did not have the best defense, but neither did Lewis who was iced twice by a right hand and Bowe could throw his right all night long...

Hard to decide b/w the 2 chins, but Lewis had a better defence than Bowe and knew how to play safe against big punchers and then let his hands go at the right time. Bowe's chin is questionable, he has been floored by Holyfield many times and staggered on his feet in their encounters, he never fought big power punchers consistently like Lewis and was dropped very badly by Tommy Morrison in sparring. There is a reason why his career was very short lived.

    Floored by Holyfield many times?
You know that Holyfield floored Tyson and Mercer and batter them, yet he floored Bowe and got knocked out cold in return.

Sparring stories? Well feather fisted John Ruiz floored Lewis in sparring.

Shot Bowe took everything Golota had plus low blows and was still standing, you have to have big bal.ls and chin to take it like that

    I tend to think that:

    Bowe beats pre-Steward Lewis.
Around the time of that transition it's 50-50.
    1996 and later, all Lewis.

I think both had great talent but Bowe was more polished fighter early in his career while Lewis looked better after 30 when Bowe was done.

I think Bowe in early 90s wins, Lewis' chances are better with every next year though

Bowe didn't fight many big punchers, so his chin is an unknown. With defense as bad as his however, I think he would have been dropped a lot.

I think his chin was pretty solid. Golota wasn't an incredible puncher, but he definitely had some good pop, especially when he had the confidence of an undefeated young contender. He hit Bowe with everything he had, and while that fight almost certainly should have been stopped at some point prior to its anticlimactic conclusion, Bowe displayed tremendous heart and a remarkable ability to endure punishment.
