C'mon. I could understand it if you picked a fellow ATG to beat Lewis, but Lyle? On what basis? You never seem to give Lewis much/any any credit whatsoever? Yet you give Dempsey a freepass (Dempsey remember, who lost to a fireman named Jim- a fighter not even near McCall or Rahman level). Well then, tell us.
I guess Ron Lyle is the ray Mercer of his era. A guy who was not one of thge absolute elite but one who could give the elite fighters serious problems. So my answer would be that no Lyle is not in the class of Lewis and the other top fighters of his era, but he is also the kind of fighter they could not aford to look past. The kind of fighter who would give them close fights and perhaps hand one of them a loss.
Ron Lyle always seems to have a good 7-8 round fight plan from Chickie Ferrera but then goes down the dramatically in the later rounds. I see Lennox KO'ing Lyle in the 9th round with a straight right hand.
