The idea of Leonard/Chavez was ridiculous though, it kind of shows how special fighters like Leonard/Hearns/Duran were and how watered down boxing is today...we've got blown up lightweights and light welters ruling the welterweight division and back then you had 147 pounders who could beat super middleweights/light heavyweights.

It's like Floyd and Manny going up to fight Bute or Ward. :shock: Heck, Martinez is considered too big for them.

 

Yep, i get the feeling Roy's going on partly because of those mistakes. I don't think he's mentally got over the regrets.

Roy became fragile post-Euiz, but usually to temple/side of the head shots. He was a fighter who relied on his legs to execute his formidable style, once they stiffened it was all over for him. The thought of Roy from a few years earlier even needing to break into a sweat to beat Tarver and Johnson is ludicrous.

Who was at Cruiser around the time Roy beat Ruiz? Who wod he have has to face of he fought there first, before dropping down to fight Tarver, who had badmouthed him incessantly harbouring after a fight.
