This may come as a surprise to you but I'm aware of the fact that Lennox Lewis is bigger than John Ruiz.
The number of fighters throughout history that can beat Prime Lewis is very very small. 2-3 at most. Prime Lennox would literally either 1-Destroy Roy early to mid rounds with a massive KO or 2- Embarrass Roy by winning the most lopsided UD in the history of sports. It will be like a super man version of Wlad vs Haye. With Lewis being better then WLAD and Haye being much more dangerous then Roy. Roy Jones Jr was good and all, Lennox Lewis was special.
As if size isn't the reason Lewis is being favored. He's just "special" while this Roy cat is only good.
A technical guy never beat him, his jab is hard to get past, he's quick at closing the distance and will uppercut or rabit punch in the clinches, any man under 210lbs is going to get brutalised by Lewis Not sure what happened with Douglas, but Roy did want Tyson and Holyfield but both turned down the fights
Rock hits the pitcher? Bad for the pitcher. Pitcher hits the rock? Bad for the pitcher. -- Spanish Proverb
marciano's rough and come forward style wouldn't make for a great fight with jones at all. jones would be left cold in no more than three rounds.
wlad/haye is not a good indicator. wlad was scared to let shots go. lewis was not. lewis would of destroyed that david haye. no problem.
Jones is a real threat to win by decision. His chin was fine before he moved down from heavy back to light heavy and got old overnight, and the physical properties of 190 pound men did not magically change for the worse when the cruiserweight division was recognized.
Please. Lewis would be at a greater speed disadvantage than Wlad was against Haye. I don't think Lewis would be stupid enought to go out there bombing right hands. Its not just about the fear of being hit in return, its the fear of missing in bunches, looking foolish and losing rounds, gassing out,..etc. Lewis also wouldn't be able to do anything on the inside against Haye if he is allowed to drop to his knees everytime he's cornered. All things considerd, Haye's survival tactics could probably see him last the distance with many great HWs. He won't win fighitng like that, but he'll see the final bell. On the subject of Jones. Ruiz has a sneaky right hand and Jones slipped it everytime, and the idea of chasing him down, grabbing, and hitting him is easier said than done. Lewis is slower than Ruiz. We are talking a small, fast, mobile target...not the big stationary lugs Lewis blasted out. It would be in Lewis' best interest to control the range and find Jones with his jab when he can. Not give up his immense size advantage by pressuring and going for the knock out...cuz Jones can't hurtz me! Steward would agree.
Ok...than don't waste my time, ass. I realize my opinion is an underwhelming minoirity but I feel strongly about it and can argue logically. If you can't handle that, don't bother responding to me anymore.
