This is the post i put up on the coments of the article due to the serious lewis bashing going on.

Lennox lewis paid his dues he beat every man he ever faced ok by way of rematch. Unified the division and was 3 time wbc champ and ring champ. Now give him his dues ok he may not of beaten ali in his prime. Now lets use some of your logic if lewis loses a match to McCall surely he cant beat ali. Ali lost to norton and imo lewis kills Norton, ok and he dropped a decision to frazier, now if foremans uppercuts destroyed frazier what would the bigger lewis do ? Its all subjective talking about who could beat who, some down to interpretations, some down to pure hate of lewis. What ever Lewis in 20 years time will be remembered as an atg heavyweight. When the futre BOXREC fans who look at records to decide who they go 4 lol and arent swayed by the hatred. Maybe then he will get his respect, If you are unable to see Lewis is an ATG its about time you go and watch another sport as you know nothing about boxing. PEACE

I think that about sums it up:good

  3. Prime Lewis was several years into Stewards training. Has Wlad even peaked yet?

Didn't Lewis also string Vitali along over a rematch for around a year before retiring?

And no way Frazier beats Lewis, that'd be like a Foreman v Frasier-esque beating by Lewis.

  4. Ali would b 2 slick for him , even though lennox is smart , i see ali out smarting him .

I thought it was a pretty well written argument that I wouldn't argue with too much. There are, of course, always intangibles with these things but I think on his day Lewis could beat anyone. His ATG ranking will, however, always be affected by those two embarassing KO losses.

A 70's Ali would be too slick? It's not like he'd be effectively dancing around making Lewis look like he had cement in his shoes. Lewis would be controlling the center of the ring. A younger Ali with his movement may be a better bet against Lewis, but the older Ali, I don't see it, much as I'd like to.

An excellent article, Sweet Pea and very well thought out reasoning for the most part regarding your picks and stylistic analysis. I very much enjoyed reading it. Here's my take peak for peak:

    Lewis vs...

    Joe Frazier (Lewis, TKO12)
60's version Muhammad Ali (Ali, UD)
70's version Muhammad Ali (Ali, close SD)
    George Foreman (Lewis, UD)
    Larry Holmes (Holmes, close SD)
Mike Tyson (50/50. Tyson early KO or Lewis decision)
    Evander Holyfield (Lewis, UD)
    Riddick Bowe (Lewis, TKO7)

Are you guys forgetting Lewis was knocked out by two B level fighters by one punch and arguably lost to Ray Mercer? He also struggled with an old Holyfield in the rematch. That article is making it out like Lewis was unbeatable. He wasn't.

I'd say he beats Frazier, Bowe, loses to Foreman, Ali, Tyson, Holmes.

I only see Big George winning one way....ONE BIG PUNCH! Which with him, its always a possibility.

  15. All there defeats came when they were past their prime , although i ain't too sure about ali .

And tyson was in his prime whilst he was under kevin rooney up 2 and including the spinks fight . After this u still had an excellent tyson but already on the slide.
