Ok I'm trying to come up with a h2h for Lennox that he could MAYBE lose. Him vs the gypsy king. Who wins and why?
Lennox Lewis beats him, probably by a stoppage. He's a totally different class of fighter. That's if Fury would even get in the ring with him.
You can tell a lot from a fighters choice of opponents. Lewis might not have met every potential peer in their prime, but he was constantly fighting the people that the fans wanted him to fight. If there was a past prime great, who the public couldn't let go of, he fought them. If there was a contender, who the public saw as a head to head threat to him, he seems to have moved them to the front of the que. While I respect Fury as a fighter, he clearly ebs and flows. We are not seeing any kind of consistent greatness from him. If he want's to be compared to Lewis, then the way is not through Pulev, or Ruiz, or even Joshua. The way is through Usky!
Fury would get beaten. He might be good against the no-skilled giants of today, but he has nothing to suggest he'd compete with Lewis on the skill front which is where Lewis would really press him on. The only way I could see Fury winning this is to take advantage of Lewis's suspect chin and go for a KO shot. He certainly has the strength for it, but would he find an opening to land one? I doubt it. Lewis is too cautious most of the time.
I would pick Lewis, but not with enough confidence to wager on it. I would expect a close decision either way
No way in God's name Tyson Fury gets out of a fight against Lennox lewis . Sure he could go out there make it rough for a round or two, but Lewis's power is at least comparable to Wilders and some would argue equal to or greater than....all the while being more skilled and a better finisher than Wilder.. Lewis would weather Fury's storm better, stand his ground better, block more of Fury's offense, and eventually catch Fury just like Wilder did, and finish the job. Or he would just methodically beat Fury into submission
Lewis is a bit bewildered by Fury's tricks early on, but the latter just can't land much significant on him so it's kind of a snooze fest. Lennox pumps the jab and Fury tries to avoid the uppercuts and right hand in general. Lennox's overhand starts landing consistently in the 8th, with Lewis ahead on all scorecards. In the ninth things are looking inevitable for Tyson, despite his hugging and bullying tactics. Said tactics don't go anywhere with LL. Fury goes down anywhere from the 10th to 12th, Lewis finishes him. Lennox didn't hit as hard as Wilder, but he still hit damn hard, and he was a hunded times the boxer.
Lewis wins this. He was more of an offensive threat than either Wlad or Wilder and was prepared to take it to the trenches to deliver damage, if needed. Fury might make it look competitive in the early going, with his solid defense - particularly his control of distance - but I can't see a scenario in which Lewis doesn't catch up with him and close that distance to make it a short-range affair. A tactical chess match would not suit Lewis and he'd know this. Once Lewis turns this into a mauling war, there'd be little to no respite for Fury from thereon and the Lewis connects would begin to take their toll. It would be pressure of a type that Fury hadn't experienced before and he would ultimately be outhustled and outworked by Lewis, who could either force a late stoppage or take a comfortable UD.
Last I tallied, Lewis would have had a lot of trouble beating 60s or 70s Ali, FOTC Frazier would knock the hell out of him as well as Liston, prime Foreman stops him, Joe Louis. It's quite possible prime Iron Mike knocks him out, and if LL isn't taking things completely seriously even Weaver and Norton could surprise the hell out of him. I also see the Bowe who beat Holy I beating him. Not so much the guy after that. Holyfield is a toss up for me.
I dont think Fury has the power to hurt Lewis .. And Lewis is a level above Fury easily in ability .. Simply look at the jabs, a solid jab vs a slap jab
