Lewis in his own words about this: "From the current guys (Wilder, AJ, Fury), Fury would give me the most of trouble and i would need my time to adjust." Fury did not disagree, he said once something like prime Ali, Tyson, Lewis, Bowe, Holyfield, Foreman etc. were to good for him, but today there is noone like them. Lewis wins by a later stoppage, KO or TKO, 8-11 Round, but maybe Fury can overcome 2-3 knockdowns and go the distance with Lewis, losing a point decesion. Since Fury himself stated he would have lost against prime Lewis (and others), why disagree? Usually he is honest when speaking and doesn´t lie very often. But Lewis - so or so - gives Fury the edge over Wilder and AJ right now, and i am sure Fury will appreciate this very much!
I thought this was a Lewis Vs Tyson thread so picked Lewis by KO. A Tyson Fury fight is much harder to call. I kinda feel it will be very similar to the Wilder fight where Fury outboxed from range but Lewis is able to tag him hard with big shots. By gut instinct is Lewis KO but this could very easily be Fury on points.
Lewis`s jab was brilliant but Fury is far better defensively, Lewis couldn`t slip punches, he used his gloves like Holmes to pick shots off as he moved away from trouble, it was all about range with Lewis.
Mike Tyson would have destroyed Wilder if he used the same tactics he used v Fury, Mike was better at dealing with an opponents jab than Fury is, the peek a boo is perfect to get inside on Wilder and Mike was really quick.
Lewis by KO somewhere mid fight. Lewis actually has a functioning uppercut that WK/Wilder do not have or do not know how to use..............Fury's dipping/bending over is tailor made for it. Fury's safety first spoiler style is the only reason it will go mid rounds but when he opens up a little like in the Wilder fight he is getting clipped but Lewis does not let him off the hook plus Lewis knows a thing or two about fighting dirty so holding behind the head while launching the upper cut is also in the cards. Anyway , Lemmie by KO.
Foreman stated that Fury would beat him so you can`t read much into what fighters say on these matters, Fury said Mike Tyson would have knoced him out in 1 round also, Ali said if Tyson caught him he`d be sparked and Mike has stated Ali would have beaten him easily, meaningless.
Lewis`s jab was so effective because of his reach except for Grant Lewis never met a fighter with a reach like Fury`s (85 inches) and Lewis was easy to hit with jabs, even a short armed fighter like Mercer landed the jab all night v Lennox even though was a far better fighter than Ray, it was a flaw he had despite being a great jabber himself.
Tough fight. Lewis seems to like Fury and views him as very formidable. Lewis having never lost a deciscion is a little misleading he wasn’t the boxer that Wlad was - he was known to lose rounds and was trailing in several fights before he prevailed - such as Bruno and Vitali. And many feel Mercer out fought him and he certainty out jabbed him. However Fury outboxing Wilder shouldnt be any barometer, Wilder can’t box at all and I believe Lewis was a harder puncher than Wilder even though everyone seems obsessed with Wilder’s power lately. Fury also beat a Wlad at 39 most guys including Lewis are retired by this point. I don’t want to underestimate Fury he’s proved me wrong twice already but if this is prime Lewis not the Vitali Lewis, I would think he finds Fury at some point while trailing on the cards and knocks Fury out. Fury has been dropped several times and not just by big punchers. But underestimate Fury at your own peril he may not look graceful but guy moves great, exceptional actually for a 6’9 man and has tremendous stamina. There’s not a lot of comparisons to draw from when envisioning how this fight would play out. Lewis would have to realize early he can’t outbox this guy and turn into seek and destroy which he could do and get Fury out of there.
