Lewis did not stop Holyfield or Marovic. Both guys around the same size as Usyk. He didn't stop Tua either and took 8 rounds to get rid of a shot Tyson. Lewis probably wins a decision here. Hard to tell. Usyk is faster and slicker than any prime fighter Lewis ever faced. Plus, we don't know how well Lewis could see the sneaky left of Usyk since Lewis only ever fought one southpaw. On the other hand, Lewis was far more assertive with his jab and right hand than Joshua is. Joshua is gun shy; Lewis wasn't despite being a fairly prudent fighter. IMO if Usyk is to win, he would have to fight at a higher level than he did vs Joshua. Usyk will have to turn it up like he did in round 10 of the second fight vs AJ. Up until then, it looked like Usyk was fighting within himself. All of a sudden Usyk unleashed his full range of punches (right hooks, uppercuts etc.) and AJ had no answer. Lewis should be able to land enough right hands and jabs to win a close decision here. Usyk will have to fight a perfect fight from start to finish to win a decision. He can't afford to take a couple of rounds off vs a guy like Lewis. Close fight.
Lewis was a great fighter who used his strengths under great training. Usyk is a generational talent and gods gift to boxing. Usyk on points for me. Lewis would be punching air all night.
Lewis is too big for Usyk and a better boxer. Clear KO unless Usyk runs but still one right hand.....
Lewis isn't a better boxer in terms of pure technical skill. Usyk has superior footwork, better defense, more creative combination punching etc. Usyk is clearly a better boxer. However, Lewis is physically a lot stronger and punches much harder. So Lewis would be the slight favourite.
I usually don't have 'favorite' fighters, but Usyk is my favorite HW today (though I think Fury beats him pretty easily). Lennox vs Usyk would be just flat ugly. Lewis KO 6 Usyk.
I'm surprised the results are so wide. Don't get me wrong. I personally agree with the majority, I would absolutely favor Lewis to win. But with Usyk being one of the most, and perhaps/probably THE most popular active boxer on this forum, I was expecting a tighter race in the polling.
The only heavyweights Usyk has fought so far are AJ, Chisora and Witherspoon, and he did nothing in any of those fights to suggest he would beat Lewis.
I think the very wide results in favour of Lewis, in spite of Usyk being so popular here, show a pretty convincing consensus among boxing fans that Lewis > Usyk.
As good as Usyk is, he hasn't beaten anyone as good or even close to as good as Lewis. Usyk being a southpaw doesn't possess the usual weapon that's been most effective against Lewis, the right hand. Also in terms of lead hands Usyk usually dominates but in Lewis he has a fighter with a lead hand that might be superior to his, not just in terms of the jab but in how Lewis uses it to set up other punches and control his opponent. Lewis unlike AJ knows how to use his size to control and bear his weight on opponents. Usyk's movement will no doubt cause Lewis problems but it's hard to move in a clinch or when your head position is being controlled by posts, frames and collar ties. Lewis will manhandle Usyk and wear him out. Lewis UD or late stoppage.
You think Usyk would lose to Rahman and McCall, let alone get sparked out by them? Are you serious? The complete dearth of slickness on Lewis' CV disgusts me Literally zero slickness, let alone southpaw slickness Stick a younger, faster Usyk with his mongoose reflexes and reaction times in there instead of this aged inactive one and I see Lewis chasing shadows all night and getting bamboozled by speed and movement. Don't forget many picking Lewis here were all so sure AJ would knock Usyk out too. That's what I'm talking about and what you're talking about now. Real talk. Usyk UD
Lewis would be too big and too strong for Usyk, after all, in addition to that power, Lewis also has Ring IQ...
