My take on a few of your points: The decision for those two to fight was surprising to everyone even then. It probably would have been better promoted, but still...it has made great history. Vitali didn't have the hype in the US that Wladimir had until after the fight. He was on the outs with the general boxing public because of the Chris Byrd fight and Wladimir was just seen as a fluid, dynamic offensive machine.
About point 4: Lewis was getting more and more into the fight, they were both dead tired by the time of the stoppage. A question to all Vitali fans: would you rather have the fight to have continued with Vitali risking to get permanently injured and not be able to box again? That outcome was more probable than Vitali stopping Lewis, believe me that. There would never have been a WBC champ Vitali Klitschko, is that what you wanted? And before you start implying that I'm hating on Vitali and so on, for bringing up this legitimate question, let me tell you that I respect the man.
Uppercut, would you mind shut the fu** up if you just want to talk rubbish instead of say something that makes sense?! Thank you
At that point of the fight a stoppage was the best thing for Vitali´s health. He was ahead on points, both where fatigued but the cut was to serious. In my oppinion one of the best HW clashes of all times. Lewis should have given Vitali a rematch, but he won fair and square.
Oh dear...I had no idea boxing fans think that Vitali would have won that fight and Lewis got lucky. You can tell I'm new to the ignorance on this forum. Throughout the 5th and 6th rounds Lewis knew Vitali was vunerable to the uppercut, he was landing it almost at will in the end. That huge uppercut in the sixth serioulsy hurt Vitali, he was out on his feet and was clinging onto Lewis. I couldnt agree more, Lewis would have stopped him in the next few rounds, it was clear he was in the ascendency. And that eye is one of the worst cuts in boxing, absolutely horrific. If the fight had of gone on and Vitali had lost his sight, which is completely possible with the state of the cut, people would have crucified the Dr and the commission for allowing it to go on. Good stoppage. Vitali needs to get over the loss and stop calling out a guy who is 43 years old and clearly enjoying life and build his own legacy. The fight would mean nothing now anyway, Lewis has to be shot now.
lewis didnt need too see a plastic surgeon after the fight...........vitali did....vitali is lucky too be alive
Klitchko won rds 1 2 and 4, Lewis won 3 5 & 6, its not an arguement that he was "coming on", thats how the fight was going, Lewis may have been tired but Vitali would have tired aswell and his face would have been obliterated, you saw it after 6 rds, as Lennox said "look at the state of his face"
I had it 3-3 after 6 rounds too but the judges didn't - and boy have we heard about nothing else since  Fact is as you say Lewis was stronger at the end of the 6th than VITLAY was (VITLAY was out on his feet) so all this bull**** about VITLAY would have won but for the cuts is just that, bull****.
I can tell do you remember the state of his face?!! But I do have a question though. If Lewis was supposed to fight Kirk Johnson, how come he was in such bad shape?
