13 years ago now and I wonder how many more years a small minority are going to go on whinging and moaning?

The doctor rightfully ruled Vitali was medically unfit to continue. Proof of that was the state of Vitali's eye and the 60 stitches his face required.

Lewis won. Vitali lost. Get over it.

Who is moaning except you ?

Vitali won why would we be upset about lummox Lewis being OBLITERATED and retiring in shame

I was happy with the result then. Still are 13 years later. TKO6.

60 stitches and an eye Vitali could barely see out of made it a routine stoppage.

Cheers and do keep your chin up.

If we're talking about "retiring in shame" then Vitali doesn't really look good either.

Promised to fight winner of Haye/Chisora then weaseled out of it by saying Haye chose to fight Chisora instead so wouldn't get a shot. Then he fought Charr in lack-luster contest before going inactive for 16 months, 9 of which he had a mandatory in Stiverne. Three times he got the WBC to put back the deadline for accepting the mandatory purse before getting them to suspend it until the following the year by pulling entirely cliaming to be injured. Announced a date for which he was state his future intentions and missed it, then put it back to a later date and missed that, before finally relinquishing the belt and going into retirement when the WBC offered him the Champion Emeritus title.

Not a good way to end a career in boxing, and, I'd argue, less respectable than Lewis.

Because Lennox was actually dealing with injuries and turmoil in his own country with much of his family in it too right? Yeah Vitali should have just dropped all that senate stuff and fought anyway. Lol

    Nice try.

Lewis had the advantages going into the fight.
    1. Had the vast experiance
    2. was training for a bigger ,tougher physical Hw in Johnson.
    3. Vitali was still green in the caliber opponents ,he hadn't actually any prior to lewis.

    Advantages in part Two

    1. Vitali was winning the fight before stopped technical on cuts
    2. Vitalis style would have improved as he did by becoming a more counter puncher, baiting his opponents to try and hit him.
    3. Lewis confidance seemed to be not so confident ,so much he went after a Roy Jones fight instead of Vital.
    4. Both would have been trained better for each ,however it was Lewis who was rocked and staggered more thab vitali was going toe to toe.
    5. Manny steward wanted to win the fight more than Lewis ,well this isn't good sign at all.
    6. Steward when training with Wlad and watching Vitali said he was much better than previously thought and siad he was one of the smartest fighters he ever saw,who knows how he would have prepeared for him with lewis or if he could if he didnt know these little tricks Vitali did.

Outcome. Vitali all likely hood wins here ,he wasnt the better fighter but he was awkward and tough with a size advantage ,that Lewis himself said caused him problems when you put everything together. If Vitali would have purposely took a fall against Johnson, myto make himself look bad and win in a struggle,my guess is Lewis takes the fight,i have no doubt about that. that says alot, when you have a dominating champion decide to throw out his plans of fighting Wlad Klitchko and Tyson rematch and he retires, that says something despite say.

The problem with Vitaly is is that even though he's as tough as nails he's a bloody bleeder. Shame really as that fight could of turned out to be very interesting.

Resume-wise Lewis destroys Vitali. Holyfield alone is better than anyone Vitali beat.
