Peak Vs. peak; prime Vs. prime; or the worst version of Vs. the worst version. Just don't compare peak Vs. worst version
Both have more than enough power to KO each other, both were great fighters, very skilled. People that fought both Wlad and Lennox said Wlad hit harder, and so did Steward who trained both. But I don't think it would matter since none of them would be able to take each others best punches. Wlad had incredible balance and one of the greatest jabs in history, Lewis, on his side, had great jab himself and excellent in-fight adoptability. Offensively his was more versatile than Wlad though Wlad had slightly better defense. I think it would be chess match with both guys being cautious. Contrary to people opinion, I don't think Lewis would press the action early since he knew Wlad was million times better than guys like Michael Grant and could catch him with lethal punches. I see it as 50/50 fight, arguments can be made for both of them winning.
Do both men get Steward in their corner, and if so- Do Lewis and Klitschko end up going to wrong corner multiple times during the match?
Lewis takes him out round 4-5 even with Klitschko’s spongy canvas and shenanigans, the spongy canvas made it harder for shorter fighters to close the distance, Lewis would get him on the backfoot and would be able to land punches at range, Klitschko would try to clinch, but Lewis would get the better of the clinches, he’s strong enough to push Klitschko off and get punches off, Klitschko was an on top fighter, he would crumble as soon as Lewis started getting the better of him.
This is about right. Though both get over-rated, Lewis is a legitimate ATG. I can’t say the same for Dr. Octopus, despite some impressive qualities (unlike his brother, whose only talent was getting punched in the face, which Wlad sadly lacks). I pick Lewis to cut through the bulls%#! & knock Klitschko out in seven.
He is not the only one. H2H Lewis was selected second and Wlad was not selected (Vitali was). https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/h2h-heavyweights-mount-rushmore.717538/
Believe it or not, I actually do. Both are examples of what I wish Boxers representing the sport could be. Humble, never in trouble with the law, conduct themselves with dignity & class. Great ambassadors for the sport, actually. It’s just that we’re only judging a fight here, not their character. One was a genuinely talented big man, but his whiskers & petrol tank convinced him that being an unwatchable spoiler was his only path to victory. I can’t speak lowly enough of the other one…absolute dreck of a fighter, no gifts, no instincts, sailed by with nothing more than size, discipline, & a damn good chin with some heart to match. But by God, a complete robot of a fighter. It pains me that he did so well. & yet I wish we had more fellows in the sport like these two & fewer gifted clowns like Mayweather & a million others.
