Lewis in a somewhat recently Ring Magazine article gives Marovic some credit. While I think Lewis won it, a few points to ponder.

Mavrovic landed a hard right ( I thin around round nine ) then Lewis went into safety first mode after taking the punch.

Mavrovic never fought again due to health issues. A shame. What was his health status going into this fight? Was he at 100%? Mavrovic was 4 years younger than Lewis. If not for the health issues would Mavrovic have won a belt in 2000-2002?

    Now for the bombshell.

According to Pugilist_Spec ESB poster, Lewis collapsed in his dressing room after the fight. If this is true, could one assume if this was a 15 round fight, we have a new champion?

Given the way the last few rounds were going, I doubt it. Lewis was landing all the clean shots then. Mavrovic's best round was earlier in the fight, when he had Lewis on the ropes and landed some decent shots, then Lewis came back with a monster right. I can't believe Mavrovic did not go down in this fight. He took bomb after bomb after bomb. Late in the 11th, he took an absolutely horrendous right hand and stayed on his fight. Insane.

Mavrovic is somewhat of a minor national hero in Croatia. He put up a much better effort than expected, was supposed to fall over in the first few rounds but fought his heart out and gave Lewis a decent fight.

The thing that pretty much ruined his career was his adherence to macrobiotic dieting and lifestyle. Needless to say, it was an immensely re****ed nutritional program for a boxer, and he ended up weighing like 20 pounds less than he should have, hence why he looked like a stick. His career was ultimately cut short by a muscle disease that forced him to retire. He's even more of a stick nowadays, at 180 pounds. His commentary of Klitschko fights is hilarious though.

As for Lewis blacking out, I've seen that mentioned several times in debates over at BoxRec, though I'll have to look for specific info.

The bigger question is: How did Mavrovic even get a title shot without beating a single top 20 contender?

Yeah, weird, nobody has ever run up an undefeated record against unheralded opposition and gotten a title shot before. Not how things work in boxing!

Mandatory. Probably because he was the European champion for 3 years.

He was ranked number one by the WBC 27-00 and European Champion . How many top contenders had Fury beat when he got his shot?

    Lewis won fair and square

Lewis hasnt KO'd Mavrovic only because Zeljko had iron chin

Mavrovic was Euro level and no better than Axel Shulz (Shulz and Dannel Nicholson actually beat him at amateurs).

Mavrovic could've won a belt only against the likes of Valuev, Maskaev of Lyakhovich.

He would have never had a chance against Holyfield, Tyson or Klitschkos

Yes, moron, I think Lewis won it. I already said that. DUH, even by your standards.

The 119-109 score card is ****.

117-112 is about right. 116-112 might be better. Lewis landed 84 more punches vs a man who had to retire, and after getting hit hard, changed his style to avoid confronation.

If this was 15 rounds, though, and Lewis did, in fact, collapse in his dressing room after the fight you have to wonder how it would play out.

    The crucial word was THINK!

You would need a PRIMARY SOURCE to confirm that and I know you have no idea what that is!

It also goes to show that the lighter heavyweights can take the best shots of the super heavyweights, what did he weigh? 215lb? Maybe it's not so easy to write off the likes of Marciano and Louis in these fantasy fights...
