Lennox Lewis had exciting and unexciting fights.

Same goes for Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes, etc.

    You are probably correct.

He obviusly can't be better than Ali or Louis. And won't be better than Holmes or Lewis.

The thing with Lewis is that you do not know which one will show up in the fight. He could be the tactical boring guy in one fight (Tua, Holyfield) and be the aggresive KO artist in the next (Briggs, Ruddock, Golota, Vitali, Grant).

Nevertheless, he is HW ATG #3 in my books.

I'm a Klitschko fan, but he still has a long way to go to reach Lennox's level, either in skill or excitement.

But (save for Saturday last) he's still improving.

    He could get there.

Apparently it's just that time of the month at ESB, and Wlad happens to be the target of the bitchfest this time

You can call anyone with a decent jab "boring", because if you have a good one, it's the safest punch to throw and for Lennox & Wlad, it just happens to be their most effective one.

Both fighters had a tendancy to be overly technical and rely on winning rounds rather than winning fights despite the fact that both have tremendous KO power.

I wouldn't call Lewis boring, even if he had one or two stinkers - show me a fighter who didn't. I wish Wlad wasn't so scared to trade, but given his record, who can blame him? Wlad's also a victim of his era - there are simply no thrilling matches to make, so he probably will be remembered as a good but dull fighter.

There were about 2 clinches in the whole 12 rounds of the Tua fight actually.

    To be exact - 26.
An average of 2 per round.

I counted them up a couple years ago, when someone (might well have been Farmy actually, some rabid Wladimir fan) was getting upset about the complaints from Wladimir clinching Peter a lot.

And only about 5 of them were proper 'hold on and wait to be seperated' clinches, the rest were positional changes, held and released in about a second.

Lewis was exciting. I could name ten very exciting fights.

His bouts with Klitchsko and Mercer are stand outs. However fights with Grant, Bruno, Botha, Rahman etc are exciting either in great rounds of amazing finishes.
