 I never said bad. Average. Not great. Ruddock's been down around 10 times in his first 34 fights of his career (Smith, Tyson, Tyson 2, Lennox, Morrison dropped him). No shame about it.

But he wasn't Tony Tucker in any means (who took prime Tyson's shots, and when clearly past prime he was hit 40 or more times than Ruddock with young Lennox power shots but still lasted full 12 rounds).

Lewis had Tucker in way more trouble than Tyson could dream about, he dropped him twice and had him badly hurt on occasions.

I think with Tyson there's a lot of tall guys he fought who lasted the full distance simply because he tried to hit them with one shot and his arms were so short he couldn't get full leverage. Ruddock being a prime example but he had trouble with Ribalta, never had Smith in any trouble who wasn't known for his punch resistance, Tillis was down but again he struggled to really hit JQT flush. Mitch Green even more so portrayed as someone with an iron chin, like Tucker i'm not so sure they never fought many big guys with long levers who could really hit them. Tyson was a ferocious puncher but if you were say above 6,3 and fought your height he would have serious difficulty catching you effectively.

Tucker however wasn't in danger of being KO'd in either fight.

When he was dropped in 3rd round, he got up quickly. After 9th round KD, Tucker beat Lewis for the rest of the round.

Anyway, it's about Tucker having much better chin than Ruddock which is proven fact.

Think you need to watch the Lewis fight again, he was very close to being stopped in the 8th round I believe, Lewis was playing possum and waiting for openings.

Yes Tucker was more hurt in 8th than when he was knocked down. But it was at the bell, and Lewis in the next round tried his best, but failed to stop him, ran out of gas and Tucker won 2 last minutes of 9th round. I've watched this fight a week ago.

Lewis from Steward years was clearly better in terms of skills than young Lewis, as was shown in this fight. Looping wide punches, holes in defence - all of that was corrected under Steward.

Yeah and that fight also shows Lewis's chin isn't half as bad as people believe, Tucker was no Shavers but Lewis basically let him hit him in that fight to create openings.

Yep true and Douglas was the first big guy to go on an all out offensive against Tyson, it worked wonders.

Lennox had some great offensive skills but did not always fight with reckless abandonment and was sparked flat 2X , his best KO's were Rudduck, Grant, Botha and Golota in fight where the other did not get a chance to fire back. There were also fights that Lennox was carefully less aggressive

I don't think it was a case of Lewis being "on" when he scored early knockouts, and simply wasn't "on" when he did not.

There were simply fighters who were more vulnerable to being stopped early or pushed him into exchanges faster.

Lewis isn't really even being that aggressive against say..Ruddock, he's actually fighting off the back foot but Ruddock keeps stalking him, coming forward with his gloves at his chest like an idiot and literally moves flush into the first right hand Lewis commits to.

Yeah, that's true. Lewis was fighting reasonable cautiously against Ruddock.
Razor basically just gave him that free shot in the side of the head, and Lewis took advantage and then finished him off.

What a load of garbage. Lewis first threw the overhand right within 1 minute 20 seconds of that fight. Later in the same round he threw a right hand lead, followed by a left hook. He spent more time holding the centre of the ring than he did fighting off the back foot, and the punch that scored the 1st KD was Rudduck ducking low and jabbing to LL's body from which he timed the counter over hand right perfectly.

Rudduck stalking Lewis, don't make me laugh.

Lewis IMO may be the most underrated heavyweight in history not only do many not rank him high enough but many underrate his chin, heart and power. Also a lot of fans consider him a boring fighter I couldn't disagree more... I really enjoy watching Lewis fight, he was a very talented and tough strategic fighter who was one of the more impressive physical specimens in history of the division. His biggest flaw may have been that he was just so good and he knew it so he'd come into fights over confident and perhaps not prepare properly. There isn't a fighter in history who I'd strongly favor over Lewis.,
