What makes you think Lewis was incapable of cutting an amount of weight that some Welterweights do, with a much lower body mass from which to cut in the first place?
Because the LL who made 230 was pretty skinny already, I don't think theres 2 stone to come off that frame.
Check out the pictures of Lewis around that time. As I said I don't think he could get 25lbs off and remain in decent shape. Either way he only weighed below 230 for 1 world title fight and then it was onward and upwards 240, 250 This content is protected
There would be no reason reason for him to be a CW. He would still be the best HW of this era and why be the CW champ when you can easily be the HW champ. Not to mention there is no money in the CW division. I think he would been way to lean at CW with his height.
Gaz, cutting weight has got nothing to do with being fat or shredded; its dehyrdation. So cutting 20lbs would be easier for Lewis than say, Arreola, because hes a taller guy. Paul Williams resembles a POW and then cuts another 20lb - its not about bodyfat.
i dont think lennox could of lost that much and performed well enough to to win a tiitle at european level he would of been very weak
I understand the frame issue (I know **** all about wrestling however!!), it just doesn't look that likely to me. I'm no expert though!! As someone else has said, also theres whether he's want to. Theres a lot more money to be made bulking up than there is cutting weight.
One thing you have to remember is just because he is a heavyweight doesn't mean he wasn't cutting any weight in training camp. Just not in the sense of dehydrating himself specifically for a weigh-in. You can bet he wasn't walking around at 224 pounds and had probably already lost a fair bit of weight through the intense training camp when it came around to weigh-in time, so asking for another 24 pounds on top of that? Not likely, humanly possible though.
All boxers lose weight in camp. That is not cutting weight. Cutting weight is dehydrating for the weigh in. So all boxers who cut a lot of weight are losing a lot of weight in camp, and then cutting a for the weigh in. You have to explain why you think Arturo Gatti can do it with a much smaller base weight to cut from, but Lewis couldn't.
