Did he though? Name one Heavy with his skillset. Bowe was amazing and so underrated.

 

Controversial though. Bowe was right, as soon as Fan Man came and wrecked it, it should've been called a no contest. Holyfield had thirty minutes to recover.

 

fair points. I was just saying in a historical sense Lewis was much bigger than his contemporaries I’m unsure he would of faired as well once his opponents began to match his size a few years later.

He may have been dominant but he clearly was not viewed as the best heavyweight until 1999 -2000 with Holyfield bouts. MCCall iced him 1994 and during the Mercer bout in 95 the commentators openly questioned where to rank him after guys like Bowe, Holyfield and Tyson.

Sure he was knocked out twice but he rose to the occasion and took both of those opponents out in sweet revenge


and his win over vitalit, while sorely needing a rematch, was a legitimate win due to excessive punches being landed——— cuts or not. His win against an early 30s prime Vitali Klitschko was one of his greatest wins, surpassing his defeating Tyson.

I don’t think Lennox’s achievements are overrated at all——Morrison, Tua, Briggs, Golota, Ruddock.......


Either in the first fight or a byway a rematch, he beat every man he ever faced—- and he faced many many tough opponents

No, I agree that Bowe is overrated. He only smashed Evander. But I don't think Evander ever beat him either.

He could have been a beast H2H. That Tucker match tho. He showed lack of heart there.
Tyson was nowhere prime for the Douglas fight. He also won if the ref didn't give Buster a 45 second count.

 

Counts are often long. Tyson shouldn't have blown all his energy forcing the knockout in the ninth when, if he'd paced himself, he could've won a decision or knocked him out in the twelfth

 

He got Chinned by 2 one punch knockouts which is pretty rare. That being said he avenged both of them.

The “full story of the fight” reflects very very poorly on Vitali Klitschko!

This was the absolute worst version of Lewis, he had trained (cough) for a completely different style and size of fighter and was himself on the verge of retiring due to lack of motivation after achieving everything he set out to do.

Vitali had been in camp for a serious fight and was very motivated, fit and ready when the opportunity to fight Lewis came along.

Respect to Vitali, he came to fight, he had a real go at Lennox Lewis and looked the better fighter for 2 rounds. After that Lewis, despite his poor conditioning and terrible mindset, walked through everything Vitali could land and began busting Klitschko up with heavy shots including some wicked uppercuts.

By the end of the 6th Lewis was clearly dominant while Vitali looked very close to being stopped as Lennox landed big shots regularly. Had the horrible cut not ended it then IMO Lewis would have KOd him in the next round, Vitali looked ready to go while his own shots had become ineffective white noise to Lewis’s attack.

He didn't give Buster a 45 second count.

 

Slowest count ever. He took like 8 seconds from 1 to 4. Yes, I know its not a 10 second count. Buster took like 16 seconds to get up though.

 

Tyson has the exact same count that Buster did.

Either way name someone with the skill set to do what Buster did to Tyson. Ignore that he didn't do anything else with his career, let's focus on one fight and declare him the best.
