In the wake of the cancellation of the Fury-Klitschko rematch there is an important opportunity for us all, especially in the boxing community, to understand more about depression. Admittedly, I don't know a whole lot about it myself, aside from the fact that its a very real thing, and people who suffer from it often times don't recognize its symptoms. They say recognizing the symptoms is the hardest part about fighting depression. The sport of boxing is filled with egos, as we all view ourself as the "baddest" on the planet, so Tyson Fury must be commended for recognizing and showing true strength by taking the steps toward recovery. I would encourage anyone who's been having suicidal thoughts, or persistent sadness, anxiousness, feelings of emptiness and/or hopelessness, to seek some help. Not getting treatment can be life threatening. 1 out of every 10 people suffering from depression commits suicide. If you know someone who you think may need help, or has expressed suicidal thoughts, please take them very seriously and seek help for them. Here are some helpline numbers United Kingdom - 08444 775 774 Canada - 866.531.2600 Jamaica - 930.1152 USA - 212.673.3000 My family sends our prayers, for strength and guidance, out to the Fury family during their time of crisis. We hope that he gets all of the help he needs for a full recovery. Bless! -LL
