How did you found out about Artur Szpilka? Lennox Lewis: I was a special guest during a boxing event in Poland, co-organized by Szpilkas promoter Andrew Wasilewski from 12Rounds KnockOut Promotions. During the break in the action, he wrote this young mans name on piece of paper and I looked at a couple of his fights on my iPad. And liked what I saw. This young fighter is a natural with the great rhythm during fight. Hes always ready, always in position to unleash a big shot and then boom, youre down. You cannot learn it, you have to be born with it. Not too much praise for such a young fighter? Just another test for Artur what he does with my opinions, is up to him. If he will be content just with the great talent, not adding the necessary work, he will never achieve greatness. Hell be known as diamond in the rough that never fulfilled his potential. I knew people who were hitting harder than I was during training camps, but they did not have necessary mental strength and dedication to make it to the top. I learned about boxing, about how to make myself better, all my life. When I started to fight in the States, people were saying that I dont have jab good enough to beat the best heavyweights. So I watched my fights over and over, worked to make my jab better. Whenever the criticism was just, I worked on it because in this sport you never should be satisfied; you always have something to improve on. If you dont want to be just a wannabe, you have to keep these words in mind. Szpilka is a great talent, exciting fighter and now his promoters and trainers should makes his ring life as tough as possible let him work during sparring sessions with guys better than him, test him behind closed doors, see how he will respond. The sport of boxing on the highest level is a compilation of various elements. If you will miss only one, think you can somewhat cheat when you prepare yourself for your fights? You will never make it to the top.
