Lennox showing Deontay how to jab

Agreed a basic concept Deontay should already know but looks awkward when doing this simple movement.
His trainer and management needs to be slapped, his technique should be far more polished at this stage. :-(

Well, we see how much good Lennox Lewis' trainer did for Price. Wilder refused to fight Thompson. Wilder will fight winos or old retired heavyweights who are out of shape and have not fought in years.............

 

Lennox used this sort of jab all night against Tua, also if anyone remembers how Frank Bruno used a short jab just like this to swell up Lennox's face in their fight.

 

He did, its a safe way to throw a jab, and Lewis fought a timid fight vs Tua.
The way Lewis was teaching it on that video is a way to throw the jab to blind and set up follow up punches.

I would'nt say the way Deontay was throwing it was improper.
The way he was throwing it is to get more power out of it.
A power jab like what Ike Quartey used. The way Big George Foreman used it to almost take Holyfields head off with it.
Lewis never hurt Holyfield with the jab, but BIG GEORGE did.

I would say a great way to work a jab is to use a variation of the jab. Start it off as Lennox was throwing it in the video and once establishing a rhythm with it that you're landing it, you can **** it back just slightly if you want more power behind it. Off and on and keep the opponent guessing.

I see where Lewis is coming from though. It might not be a good idea to come out jabbing with power against a true power puncher that can throw power over that jab.
Guage him safely first and work into throwing more power later on, but ****ing the arm back further as the opponent is weakening.
I think thats what Lennox should have been conveying to that young fighter instead of making him feel he was going about throwing the jab all wrong.

These young fighters need to be taught about situations. When and where!!!

 

Can Lewis give Wilder the balls to fight Thompson or some other top ten heavyweight?

 

I think lennox should drop price and train wilder.

You can't base Lewis' ability as a trainer based on him having 3 weeks with Price.

Wlad had Steward for a full training camp for the Brewster fight and still lost, it took a great trainer like Stweard years to fix all the faults in Wlad and Lewis.

Agree about Wilder though he is being protected for a reason. He is one of the most talented young heavyweights but from a technical stand point he is also one of the worst even more so than Price. Talent will only take you so far he hasn't even mastered the sound fundamentals of boxing, every punch is looped or telegraphed.
