Holy was anchient by then and pushed him to the wire 7/10 Grant was a novice who got spanked by his teacher 3/10 Botha couldn't deal with Lewis at all 4/10 Tua on that night was one of the BIGGEST joke challengers in history IMO - one of the very worst ever 1/10 Rahman blasted Lewis out with one of the best right hands ever thrown and Lewis did likewise to him in the rematch 8/10 Tyson was half decent for literally the first round and after that was nowhere in the fight 3/10 Vitali was great- extremely tough - haven't seen many take better punches than him - very good fight - but probably more due to Lewis' decline and woeful conditioning - Lewis got out of jail a bit with the cut thing - 8/10
Im not trolling at all. Youre making false statements, and then you dont want to answer the questions I asked because you know Im right. It has nothing to do with what was perceived as a bigger challenge in your eyes. The fact is Lewis did not take on all comers. Ruiz did accomplish more as a heavyweight than Johnson who really proved nothing more than he knew how to visit the fast food chains and was overhyped and inconsistent his entire career.
'False statements' yet you can't find anything wrong in my post so change the goal Why did Don King pay Lennox not to fight Ruiz? Because that's what happened and you hold it against Lewis for not fighting him and pretend Ruiz had some super slick style that Lenny couldn't figure out
False statements? . The WBA sanctions a fight between Lewis and Michael Grant, but after a court ruling brought forth evidence that the oft-maligned sanctioning body had broken its own rules, they refused to sanction the fight. Instead, by the rules, the WBA told Lewis that he would have to fight their mandatory #1 challenger John Ruiz. Lewis refused to fight Ruiz and the WBA stripped him of their title. Again, by the rules. From BBC News on 9-6-02: "Lennox Lewis has given up his International Boxing Federation title because he has no interest in a mandatory defence against number one contender Chris Byrd." Instead of suffering through another embarassing strip, Lewis decided to surrender the title as opposed to fighting Byrd. As far as King, Im sure he gave Lewis money to go ahead and fight Grant, because King could careless about Grant Lewis because he didnt promote them. It was a chance for him to regain control of a title. The bottom line is Lewis took the money rather than fight his mandatory challenger, Ruiz.
You aren't correcting anybody here! The only thread of truth in your entire post is that Lennox chose to fight Johnson instead of Byrd. Something Lennox and Manny Steward admitted to, as they thought it would make for a **** poor fight! Johnson got injured so he gave Vitali his shot early, which deserves respect anyway. Everything else you claim is pure garbage. And i mean everything else. The Moorer thing is just laughable. I clearly remember Lewis calling Moorer out throughout 1994, most prominently after the Phil Jackson fight. Lennox never ducked anyone and to say so is just silly. He chose more viable or lucrative options, but he ducked no one. On the contrary it was Lewis who was for the most part being avoided and frozen out. You know i've seen you post about other subjects and you seem ok. But you need to scratch this subject, because you are now in danger of being viewed as a downright liar and an obvious hater.
Alot of bullsh*t you're writing there. Some valid points with bullsh*t throw in. Bowe ducked Lewis all his career and when they could get it on, either dumped his belt or gave unrealistic terms to Lewis. Plus when the fight was finally agreed, it fell through when Lewis lost to McCall. Tyson paid Lewis $4m not to fight, but agreed he would fight him next. However, Tyson went back on that agreement and lost to Holyfield. Foreman was past it and you'd be using it against him if he fought and won. Wlad 03? he fought Vitali in May 03. He retired after this fight. Plus where is the proof? I bet it was marketing and PR noise not anywhere near an offer. Plus they're different era's, Lewis was 38 and way past prime!! Jones. Yeah I saw the marketing speculation, but no deal/offer. Plus Lewis was 38, past prime, overweight, lacked motiviation, was set for life and rich! He retired! Any fight after the Vitali one doesn't hold weight as he would only fight Tyson due to the risk/reward i.e. easy fight, big money. He was mainly retired and knew his best days were past. Hide. I don't recall this being set up and what else was out there at the same time. Probably when the Bowe fight was trying to be set up. Although if he had beaten Hide, I doubt you would say it added to his resume. The no1 contenders he dropped his belts for were in the twighlight of his career when he wanted bigger fights. They would have added nothing to his resume. You also have to remember Lewis although is a great now, was heaviliy underated by the US press (but not by fighters and was a huge risk) and wasn't as big a draw as some of the US fighters, which meant he was one of the most ducked fighters in that era. I think you can say his resume could have looked better, but he beat everyone around and given the circumstances he cleaned up as much as possible.
Yes that would be a false statement if I said 'Ruiz and Byrd' were mandatories, which I never did, I said 'yes they were mandatories but lesser contenders' Again find where I've made an actual 'false statement', you won't find one
You said Lewis beat 20 fighters better anyone Dempsey beat. To hold such an opinion would require extreme bias, or lack of knowledge. In my opinion. And, no, I don't think Rahman and Tua and washed-up Tyson were better than Gibbons or Brennan or Willard.
LOL Both Dempsey and Lennox are lower-top10 or even top 15 Heavyweight. Neither should be ranked inside the top6
