Lennox beats all of today's top men. Fury and Usyk would give him the most competitive fights but would still lose. The rest would be easily dealt with by Lewis.
I'd make the best version of Lewis a clear favourite against any currently active boxer. Whilst the likes of Dubois, Wardley, AJ and Zhang would have remote punchers chances, Usyk aside, I don't think any would be particularly competitive on the balance of probability. A prime Fury would like be a tough fight for Lennox and certainly competitive, but I'd still make Lewis a clear, if not quite overwhelming, favourite.
Good video. I largely agree. But i don't think he would go unbeaten. Someone is bound to upset him once or twice with a big punch.
Depends on how Dubois does against Usyk. If he's improved enough to crush Usyk, he deserves consideration as a possible guy to square off against Lennox. If Usyk wins by a whisker, I'd probably pick Lennox to exploit the temporary weakness of the division. Overall, Lennox is probably better than the current versions of any of the people fighting right now. But he'd have some tough fights. And he wouldn't have been a shoe-in a couple years ago to come out on top of the AJ/Usyk/Fury/Wilder succession wars. Though I would favor him to do so.
@Pat M hey old bud I know you’re not a “huge” fan of Lennox, I think he had issues with jabs and we never saw him fight a southpaw did we? What say you? I think Usyk is too “tricky” in my head but my heart says Lennox would eventually get a hold of him and rip his head off with an uppercut… inside with Fury may be interesting, we didn’t see Lennox outmuscled often it’d be a pair of bull elephants - shame we never saw Lennox fight Chris Byrd. AJ is dead meat IMO.
I think LL was a good fighter, but not unbeatable. LL was 6-5 and 230ish, huge for the time, and more athletic than the guys his size who came before him. I don't think he'd have that advantage today, AJ might well beat him, Dubois too, I think a good version of Fury would beat him, Usyk would too IMO, and I think there are lots of other big, athletic fighters who are capable of beating him. I don't fault him for the McCall or Rahman fights. Champions in earlier eras didn't have to face 235 pound athletes. LL did, and he is probably the only fighter in history who fought a prepared McCall.
I have Lewis way up near the top of the H2H heavyweights, so, unless prime Ali, Wlad or Sullivan are opposite him, he's winning.
Certainly a top ten ATG like Lewis would be favored over everyone today. However.... Prime AJ could possibly land a Rahman/McCallish type big right and get a (lucky) ko. Prime Fury of the Wlad day could possibly eke out an ugly decision. Usyk could possibly out think and out slick Lewis who after all is only 4 pounds heavier than Usyk. Everyone else has a small to tiny chance of a lucky big punch. All in all Lewis would be the favorite in all the matches. But I'd bet he loses at least 1 out of the ten.
The almighty Lewis with a questionable chin, who had two losses against non-elite opponents far below his level, would suddenly beat everyone, and he failed in that, and there is no guarantee that he would safely beat all the mentioned fighters in the video...
