Lennox Lewis is ready to make an astonishing comeback and fight one of the Klitschko brothers for the biggest purse in boxing history.

The Briton, who is still the most recent undisputed world heavyweight champion, has been offered $50million (£31m).

The offer came in Moscow at the weekend while he attended Wladimir Klitschko’s successful defence of his world titles against Alexander Povetkin.

The promoters are considering doubling their bid and Lewis says: ‘That is my price tag and it is under discussion.

‘I have told them I can be ready in six months and I am in provisional training.’

In egoless mind, yes. But Lewis thinks Wlad is there for the taking now. Amazing, he still wants no part of Vitali.

I'd like to see the fight. It would be a huge event for heavyweight boxing. If Lewis were somehow to win, you can make a strong case for him being the #1 heavyweight of all time. Lennox, if your reading this ( and we know you read boxing forums from time to time ), I suggest you go for it!

Lennox was in decline when he retired, he is now 48 years old, and has not had a fight for nearly ten and a half years. One would hope he would be too smart to go for this. It does go to show how low the division has sunk though.

this is the same story that gets rehashed every 2 years.

they say 50 mill...having fun with it, and probably enjoying his name still being bandied about out there, lewis says 100 mill.....if they gather up 100 mill...lewis will laugh and say he's changed his mind...he wants 200 mill.

this is a reucurring non-story

Lennox Lewis must be kidding.

But let's pretend he's serious. Obviously he'd get killed.
Even the alphabet organizations would know better than to sanction such an event.

Lennox doesn't sound serious in this interview from yesterday. He doesn't even mention to unretire: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rx64foJ0Hu0

Wlad by KO. Lewis wants Wlad because Wlad IS the heavyweight champion of the world. Why fight Vitali, when Vitali is a nobody right now? Vitali doesn't even take on world class fighters anymore.

Jack Johnson gets huge credit from people on here for beating Jeffries so why would either Klitschko not get credit? :huh

And Lennox needs to fight Vitali not Wlad if he were to come back (which we know he isn't)

If Lennox is considering this, it is either because he is broke, sees the opportunity for a huge payday (because boxing fans are gullible idiots who enjoy a freak show and will buy this despite their better judgment), and/or because he suffers from the same delusion most former greats have, which is that they remember what they once were as opposed to what they are now. He's looking at this guy dominate for years, and saying to himself, "Back in my day I would have stopped him."

It isn't as if Lennox has been having tune-ups (like Foreman), or been in the gym religiously for a year or so secretly getting himself back into top shape (as Ray Leonard did with Hagler). History has proven that when you take years off like Lennox has, you come back as a mere shell of yourself. So even though the Lennox of the early 2000s likely wipes the floor with Vlad in a quick KO, the Lennox of today would be a punching bag. Just because Vlad wins ugly doesn't mean he isn't a dangerous fighter. He knows how to win and he would be a whole lot sharper, stronger, faster, and better conditioned than Lewis. Stupid fight that can only hurt Lennox in every way except in the pocket book.

He's definitely not broke.

And he's almost certainly having a giggle.
