lewis was an exciting fighter when he had to be (briggs, ruddock, mercer, golota). When he didn't have to be (morrison) he just picked mother****ers apart

    To johno.
These guys are attacking (quite rightly) you because there are some Klit fans on here who drive most sane people insane. Don't take it personally. Just talk boxing

Lennox Lewis is roughly the same height as Wlad.

That is the biggest similarity between them.

Wlad is similar to Lewis [in style] in the same way that Tua is similar to Tyson.

    fantastic avatar.

jab jab cross, keep distance, fight tall.

lennox did more infighting than wlad, but other than that they fight very similar.

and yes other than his VERY early fights ive seen the good chunk of lennox fights.

they dont LOOK the same when they do it, lennox was more fluid.

sorry i haven't read all the posts but i figure you're talking wlad. the difference between the two is that when taking to the trenches (mercer) he had solid infighting and could be forced into a brawl. wlad hasn't faced that yet (except maybe sanders and brewster but sanders was over right proper quick and brewster just soaked it up)

lennox proved against the likes of mercer, vitali and briggs that he could fight and scrap. take one to land one. this is something we have never seen wlad do. we know he can be a stone cold killer, out boxing in his man and punching him out. but we have yet to see him come out of the other side of a real brawl.

    lennox wins extra kudos here.

agreed (see above post). lennox infought much more. wlad did that a lil more early on in his career. but if there was a big different as far as strength vs weakness, ill concede that.

wlad doesnt fight inside, at all.

but the whole "fight to win" thing is something wlad haters dont seem to get. lennox did it, so does wlad. in equal parts too

Haters, nuthuggers, racists. There all just insults that people who can't talk boxing come up with. Don't get caught up in it

During his heyday, I found Lewis to be a boring fighter....for whatever reason. Maybe I was spoiled by the more exciting smaller fighters like Tyson, Holyfield and Tua.

Hindsight has improved my appreciation of LL but I still think he went out like a chump for not rematching Vitaly!

By and large, Lewis was more exciting than Wlad, no doubt about it.

Like Ali, like Tyson, like Wlad Klitschko, like Joe Louis, the great Lennox Lewis had some fights that did not overly impress the public. But Lewis definitely had his share of very exciting performances - Tyson KO, Vitali, Rahman II, Ruddock, Golota, Botha, Grant, Mercer, Morrison. And he had some pugilistic specialist performances as well - Tua, Mavrovic, Holyfield, Jackson.

No fighter is exciting in every single fight - well maybe except for Cotto.

Yep, this in my opinion is the biggest difference between Wlad and Lennox, style-wise. Wlad maximizes the chance of victory in any way he can, whereas Lewis would often fight or at least take risks. The Mercer, Klitschko, Briggs, Mason and Grant fights were wars.

Anyone saying Lewis is boring has only seen his bouts with Tua and Holyfield. 95% of his matches are very exciting.

Agreed. I stumbled upon a Lennox Comp as a free purchase and needless to say I was surprised how many action packed fights he was in. Even his less than stellar fights (The Morrison and Tua fights) had their fair moments of joy.

I think that's sort of the issue with Wlad, right now he doesn't have an opponent to really give him that fight to define his legacy.
