I'm not saying yet and certainly not for the IBO potential shot, but does a fighter like Barrera or the returning Morales come onto the Zappa camp's radar in the future to help give him a name in the States?

Barrera fought Amir Khan at Lightweight (I like this as a match-up) and Morales is returning at a catchweight of 142lbs, but you would think would tune up to come down at some point?

Just throwing it out there for debate.

Its anyone guess mate. Personally, I can't see Zappa needing too many, if any aging warriors against his name for the sake of building a following in the USA... never know all the same.

Yeh as I said, just a thought and open for debate. I personally think Lenny will need a name or two. Whilst he did great things here, (brillantly positioned at the right times by Billy H.) now being over there, he's a fish in a very big pond.

A Barrera type name will be fantastic for him and you couldn't be getting him on your resume at a better time I would think?

King can't make fights for Barrera so I would think Barrera would be rapped if Shaw rang wanting to put him on Showtime and not sitting on his ass.

Is a war with the aging Barrera an open door the Latino fans??? Fine line....

Vic Darchinyan unified the titles with Elias Nasser and the team behind him calling the shots. Lenny Zappa has got Elias calling the shots in the U.S and Zappa's team with Billy Hussien and his amateur trainer have got real good fighters coming through the ranks. In this months fist mag, Billy Hussien has added Paul Fleming and Joe Williams , thats on top of Garth Woods, Zac Awad and Lenny. Pretty strong stable for our boxing community in Australia.

It might help if you give Tommy Mercuri a bit of credit mate. He's hardly Lenny's bucker boy.

    Go Zappa.

We all know about who's calling the shots for Lenny in the States. It's well documented previously so there's no scoop there.

Elias is well versed in building a name and selecting the right fights and I'm sure will do big things for him. Billy H. did a magnificent job here in Oz picking the right opponents, at the right time to help build his resume and now obviously Elias will endeavour to do the same over in the States.

In what way though Flamengo?? If he beat Barrera, I would think the Mexicans would warm to a style like Lenny's, especially the big body shots!

Geez people take stuff to heart some times. Who had Fenech beaten? No one he only had like 6 or 7 fights. As i said before just because its been done in the past (a fighter who hasn't beaten anyone of consequence fighting for/winning a "world title") doesn't make it right.

Whatever my little mind assumes? Calm down mate no need to throw insults. Even if you dont agree with my opinion there's no need for those comments try to be a bit more mature next time.

Lenny will come home with the "crown". Yeah he more then likely will come home with the IBO LW title. Good luck to him doesnt really mean ****. One fighter comes home with the IBO LW title. Another comes home with the IBF title. Another with the WBU and another with the WBO. In the words of Larry Holmes: So ****ing what. As i will keep saying that is why boxing is suffering, everyone coming home with some form of a title, every calls themselves champ = no one knows what the **** is going on or who the champ is so they just dont pay attention and the sport suffers.

I am a fan of Zappa and have respect for ANYONE who steps into a boxing ring. I know how hard it is just to get in there and spar let alone these pros doing it against good fighters for 8,10 and 12 rounds. I am not going out of my way to bag anyone and I support ALL aussie fighters giving it a go on the local and international stage.

But i am also a fan of the sport and i am not going to sugar coat it. If Lenny gets the IBO LW belt he is just another name is the looooooong list of fighters that paid a sanctioning fee to a corrupt organisation and got himself a belt. Answer me this flamengo. If Lenny wasnt an Aussie boy and he was just another fighter going for another belt and you looked at his record and saw he was fighting for a "title", would you be saying yeah kick ass Zappa? Or would you be saying what im saying? This kid hasnt done anything and doesnt deserve to fight for a "title"?

I wish Zappa continued success and hope he continues to do himself and Australia proud. But assuming he does fight for and win this title in his next fight, dont expect me to be jumping for joy calling him a "world champion".

I'd be looking at the record of Zappa and telling YOU that his own credentials make a pretty bloody good case for a title shot. IBO, IBF IBWhatever.. Actually, I'd suggest his credentials outweight those of 50% of current fighters who get a title shot due to the defeat of a former IBF champ as well as victory over Browne alone.

No, the games not what it was years ago when I walked to school bare foot in the snow, but on judgement of the current fighters own standings when they take a shot at a title.. yep, IMO, Zappa's got a good case.

Can only wish him luck, as the title will mean a great deal to him.

The way you are looking at it i would agree. The way things go today with all the bull**** titles and the least deserving always getting shots i concur Zappa does have a good case. I just look at it from the point of how it was run probably when you were coming up.

Just because thats the way things are doesnt make it right and it doesnt mean i have to support it. I support Zappa yes but not the way things run. Until Zappa, Katsidis or whoever else defeats JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ, they are not and never will be the LW champion in my eyes. Im blind to these **** belts because they hold no meaning.
