Any thoughts on "Torito" Gamez? As his nickname suggests he was a bull-ish fighter and also had quite a longevity for someone in his weight class and was the first fighter to win 4 world titles in the smallest weight classes (Straw, Light Fly, Fly, Super Fly). Perhaps considered as the best fighter to come out of Venezuela along with Betulio Gonzalez, Carlos Hernandez and Antonio Gomez. A real road warrior where he fought most of his title fights in the opponents backyard. He also gave HOFer Myung Woo Yuh a tough outing in their first fight as well. A tough, fearless, and crafty fighter even if he wasn't always the most consistent. Very underrated little fighter Torito was.

I'm familiar with him only through his late career. He was undersized Super Flyweight/Bantamweight then. Wasn't in the greatest condition either, couldn't really fight at the pace - but was certainly crafty and carried his power to the higher weight-classes, what allow him to remain competitive at the fringe world level.
Not sure if I'm impressed by him winning the titles in all those weight-classes, considering that above Junior Flyweight, He was beating moreso weaker titlists. He was probably truly world class at 105-108 and I hope to sit down to watch some of his older fights some day.

You should definitely watch Leo Gamez vs Saen Sor Ploenchit to start out with when you have the time. Absolutely insane 12 rounder. You won’t be disappointed.

I personally think Leo Gamez achieved enough to be considered for the IBHOF.

Would have been fascinating to have seen Gamez face the likes of Michael Carbajal, Chiquito González, Mark Johnson, Danny Romero while they were champs around the same time he fought in their weight classes. Not sure if he would have beaten any of them but he would surely hold his own well.
