and the most accurate volume puncher. I really think we're looking at a future p4p'er here. This kid seems to just overwhelm good fighters and stands right in there face doing it. Almost everything he threw last night landed with pop and precision against the very game mexican. When santa cruz grows into his body at around 122/126 i'm liking him to be the man in his division. I also see him and donaire battling for supremacy at 126 around mid 2014 in a superfight on PPV.
i havent been as excited about a young fighter as i am about leo, in a long time. its going to take someone like donaire to beat him, a boxer with ko power. if you cant hurt him you wont beat him, his offence is too varied and you wont win a war of attrition against him. his attack reminded me of chavez in some parts and arguello in others, i know thats saying a lot at this stage but the kid is built perfect for a boxer, has respectable speed, cool as a cucumber and he punches beautifully. he is going to get hit with his style of fighting but he will be geting his in through 12. ill be following his progress.
Leos cool but I wouldn't give him that title yet, there are many good body punchers in the game but he appears to be among the best.
i'm really big on this guy at the minute. he lets those hands go, up stairs and down stairs, in combinations with power. what isn't there to like? he's not really beat anyone of great substance, but the way he's doing it is impressive. i can't wait to watch him again. hopefully he gets a good fight to show people what he's about.
he needs to work on cutting off the ring though. but other than that hes amazing and would whoop mares in a war.
mares tires out on his own. imagine how much quicker he would tire with santa cruz' nonstop pressure and vicious bodyshots with osoo beautiful technique.
I wouldn't say he is the best body puncher but he is definitely the most dedicated fighter when it comes to body punching. Against Morel it was just sick!! Those guys must be pissing blood for a little while after the fights. He might not have fought anyone special yet but he's a real champion and he will have to fight other champions soon otherwise we might very well see the same pattern again and again. I'm glad he wants to stay @bantamweight a bit longer in order to get more experience. Smart move! He could go against Ruiz (if he wins the WBA belt against Kameda) or Moreno. A unification fight would put him under the spotlights bc he would become the man @118.
Santa Cruz reminds me a bit of a little version of Margarito in terms of his posture, pressure, and punch variety. He even looks like him. :yep
Everyone here knows I'm a Maragrito mark but Santa Cruz is more skilled than Margo P4P. That said... Dudes relentless like a Mini Tornado.
