ESPN have announced that Leo Santa Cruz has vacated his IBF title and will move up to SBW.

This now leaves Jamie McDonnell to contest the vacant title and it's reported that he may face the young power punching Mexican Julio 'Pollito'' Ceja.

I've been a fan of Ceja for last two years or so (Check Boxrec Scouting thread) he's feasted on a mixture of experienced fighters who've competed at world level as well as fighting unbeaten fighters on the come up so he's got a good experience for a man of 20. Long arms, Moves the upperbody well. You can see he's looked to his elders. He drops lovely body shots as well as boxing well to break down opponents. Doesn't rush his work just takes you apart.

He will be no push over lads, tough fight if made. I'd actually favor Ceja to stop McDonnell.

Ceja is a tough fight. I think McDonnell will have quite a few problems, sadly. I want McDonnell to win but I expect Ceja to get the stoppage. He should be develop into an excellent fighter under Nachos tutelage.

Just watching his fight at weekend. Took a fair few punches and looked sloppy at times but the stoppage is savage..

Double left hook to body, Steps off then goes back inside using the shoulder steps off and lands a crushing uppercut and again!. Down he goes..

What i like about him he's patient and you can see he punches hard. I think he will look to walk through Jamie as that's his major downfall lack of power.

Don't know much about this Ceja bloke but if he's a good puncher like you're saying then McDonnell is already up against it. He'd likely have to try and out-box him in order to win. Jamie has good skills but **** all power, if he traded he'd likely get stopped.

Hope he does get the shot though, he deserves it I guess.

Thinking bout it though McDonnell sells alot of tickets, use it as a sky date at the sheffield arena (or whatever it is called) again.

TBH this is more logical, I do worry about the Froch undercard quality. Hope Eddie doesn't let us down, I love the football but this night i ain't interested one bit..

Undercard fighters have no tickets practically which makes things very problematic. Can see this being like a k2 undercard. Jumah is on the undercard which is good though.

I don't think it will be that bad cos there undercards are woeful!. But i agree it's hard with guys who don't sell tickets so probs be ok undercard but not great.

Eddie does admit it's hard to shell out silly money for undercard fights with hardly anyone in arena watching but then again people pay same amount whether there watching or not and the fans watching on tv and in arena do deserve a quality show not just a main event.
