Mares needs to take a more Estrada esque approach. This has no grounds in longevity.

    Round 2

Santa Cruz is throwing shoeshine flurries into Mares' chest as Mares does the same pressing in, loading up a bit more with uppercuts, left after right after left. Mares is mixing in overhands, clubbing at Santa Cruz's head and neck as they exchange thoracic blows. Santa Cruz is growing hesitant and more gun shy than usual.

    10-9 Mares

    20-18 Mares

I think we're all on the same page in thinking that Mares might not be able to do this for 12 rounds.

    Round 3

Santa Cruz tries a long uppercut while being driven into the ropes, just missing. Heavy barrage downstairs by Mares, staying close. Santa Cruz steps out and pokes with a long light right hand lead. Mares explodes from a crouch with a superman right. Mares is hacking away on Santa Cruz's face and throat with overhands. Head clash, and Mares is cut. So is Santa Cruz. Mares is throwing BIG power combos. Santa Cruz is curling his back and exposing the back of the head, letting Mares get free rabbit punches.

    10-9 Mares

    30-27 Mares
