He's a featherweight who gassed in the 5th round. Sure he gave it his best shot, but gassing that fast is kind of unprofessional.

I hate LSC, his dumb tick and featherfists annoy me as hell, but he clearly won this fight, landed the way cleaner headshots, and a lot of mares shots didnt even count since there were landing on the back of his head or his back. Mares started off good, but LSC adapted and won a clear victory.

It should really be LSC-Cuellar next. Winner fights Lomachenko.

loma would school him easy. mares went in with the wrong gameplan, you can't outwork santa cruz, mares was successful in the 1st round then as the rounds went by he started to gas, and santa cruz started to dominate. santa cruz has some crazy stamina.

Mares was already on the way down and doesn't look that good at 126lbs, that's the truth.

He started fast, what can you say... he threw 980 punches.. i can see why he gassed, and i dont think it has anything about being unprofessional... He fought a great fight regardless and should get credit, not be critiqued..

I can't believe anyone doubted LSC before.. those people were morons and should have been ignored.

Pretty much, he started off well though but it was still a dumb start, he killed his chances by blowing his steam off early in the fight with a strategy that would never ever work for him in this fight, I can't believe he did that ****.

I only doubted LSC because he looked average when up against mediocre opponents, mares brought out the best in him.

He gassed because of the intensity he fought at, and because he leaks energy all over the place falling in. That has nothing to do with fitness.

He didn't do anything really that was that impressive. I'm sorry I'm just not seeing anything. He had 7 rounds to fight a totally gassed fighter. And he couldn't even wobble a blown up bantamweight once.

I doubted him and still do, a win over a very faded Mares changes nothing, I even said he'd beat Mares multiple times.

Russell Junior would batter Santa Cruz.

SC is still a guy who's slow, doesn't have big pop, and is an open target. Stylewise, he's made for Russell.

Loma vs SC isn't even worth discussing. It'd be a cruel beating.
