Good posts here by Assassin and Sug3. Keep it up lads - I know it gets hard sometimes - 'Casting pearls before swine' springs to mind Finally some well thought out, balanced posts about the superbantams.. Less informed posters (I'm being kind here!) take note....
They are both very good by UK standards, and even by world standards - but they both get taken apart by LSC eventually, though it may be close or even with Frampton or Quigg in front through several rounds.
One small point assassin - you cannot be serious about Quigg beating Carl. Please tell me you were only joking.....
Please develop this point a bit for me Buttsy. What has LSC got/what is CF lacking, that makes you see him "taking apart" Frampton?
Even looking fantastic in the Parodi mismatch, didn't you find him to be a bit open to counters - with the lane particularly clear downstairs? Santa Cruz is the sort who looks for that and piles it on, killing you incrementally by chipping away until you suddenly can't breathe. Of course I well understand that Frampton wouldn't make himself quite so available if you put LSC in the other corner; he is no dummy and it was apparent he didn't have any regard for Parodi and fought accordingly. Still, I think he would get busted up from the bottom up without realizing it was happening, being overly keen to exploit Santa Cruz's lesser speed and going after the attractive target with his focus on dishing out his offense and simply avoiding head shots.
Santa Cruz KO's both of them why don't those two Euro level guys fight each other first to find out who is more worthy of a beating from Santa Cruz
Thanks for the response...you certainly have thought it through well. Just bear a few things in mind though. Carl is very stocky and has a short body to protect and big arms to do it. LSC might not get at him downstairs too easily. Also LSCs preferred style ..to walk up to his man and unload..might not work too well against a clever boxer like Carl who can box well off the back foot. Also don't forget Carl hits HARD. Kiko and Parodi had never been stopped before, and he stopped both with single shots, one a left one a right, one to head one to body....LSC wouldn't be having it all his own way in there by any means...cheers
Frampton would win but Quigg would have to wait 2 or 3 years when he will have more experience then Quigg could beat Cruz aswell
Fair points. :good I will say the Jackal is probably the only Brit - or European, period - who could potentially stand in the way of the pair of Western hemisphere Latinos who - although extremely different in style - look poised to co-dominate super bantam for quite some time. (obv. Rigondeaux and Santa Cruz) The only other one who comes close is Kiko, and he is some distance behind Frampton IMO...although I would love to see him against either the Cuban or the Mexican. Quigg to me is still not in that conversation. I'm not sure he would pass the Kiko test, and if he even did, not as 'comfortably' as Frampton. Head to head, Carl stops him right now. That might change.
Qiugg and Frampton need more developement to even be considered an opponent type for Leo.Let them both fight each other and eventually the winner could fight Santa Cruz in a year or so. Leo is a whole different level.
I think if Frampton were to settle the account on the domestic scene by knocking out Quigg and snatching his zero, then beat Martinez again in a rematch to upgrade to world champion status, then he would more than deserve a unification with Santa Cruz and would have a not dissimilar caliber of resume.
I agree with most of the post, but i don't think that Leo is on another level, better yes but not levels above. I'm still not sold on Frampton, he's impressing some people simply because he bangs a bit, Quigg seems to be progressing nicely and has a good head on his shoulders. Lets see where Frampton and Quigg are in 12 months. :good
