He beat the legendary Cassius Clay and showed that all things are possible and that the even the common man can overcome the elites and the privileged class as long as they believe in themselves.

He was the ultimate People's Champion in an era of demigods

I think the last time i've heard about him was like 1 year ago, i think he was suffering from prostate cancer, couldn't walk but thank god he married an amazing women. She ,as well as his son, were taking care of him.
I think he was pretty good, not only a former marine and proudly served his country but also an Olympic champion who turned professional and as we know fought Muhammad Ali 15 rounds after having less than 10 professional fights!!!
He wa good, but not THAT good. Ali got in shape one last time and beat Spinks, but again leon was able to go the distance with him. Sadly, Spinks never had much of a career after that. He ended up with a 26–17–3 record.
    RIP champ.

RIP Leon. Seems you had it really rough these past few years, so I hope wherever you are you're finally at peace.

Massive respect for what you achieved in your career. I always thought that early iteration of yourself was an awesome fighter.

When I was a boy, ours was an Ali household and when Leon beat him, I got into a fistfight with the kid across the street over it.

    RIP, Champ.
