The Leon who beat Ali in Feb of '78 decisions Trevor based on the workrate.Otherwise, I see Trevor winning a late round stoppage or UD over Leon.It would be a decent matchup if both are in there to win.

Most likely Berbick. But keep in mind that Spinks stopped Mercado who stopped Berbick.
Leon might outwork him, or Berbick could outmuscle him. Tough one, but I'd probably bet on Trevor.

Fully agree with this scenario. Spinks was faster, but Berbick had slightly more skills.

It always seems like people are incapable of voting for Leon Spinks in fantasy fights on this board, but at the end of the day I have to go with that trend for this fight.

Berbick stopped Tate and upset Thomas who were much better than Spink and represent Berbick at his best, while the Mercado loss represents Berbick at his worst. But Spink would give him lots of trouble with his crazy energy.

It would be a good scrap. Both were fighters with a decent workrate for heavyweights. Probably be a close disputed decision.

Berbick UD, people underrated Trevor because he took it easy on the corpse of Ali.

Berbick showed a lot more H2H ability in his fights with Thomas, Tate & Page, than Leon did against a Zombie Ali in '78, who was so pathetically shot-to-**** i'd pick Thomas, Tate & Page over him for sure. :deal

Berbick caught a Page off-guard with a broken thumb.Leon, on his best night, could edge Trevor, but otherwise, he loses by a TKO in the ninth round.

I keep picturing Berbick slumped in his corner while being outboxed and outworked by Cruiserweight S.T Gordon getting berated by his cornermen. I'm having a very hard tme reconciling that memory with the raw buzzsaw Spinks was in 1978. I know there was a better side to Berbick, just can't see it with a hungry-to-the-point-of-starving Spinks of that time period. I suspect Berbick would turtle shell, hold, and get shutout on the cards, although the dissenters on this thread are knowledgable and make a good case.

"Neon Leon" would put up a good fight and could poosibly be ahead on the score cards heading into the late rounds. However, I think that eventually Berbicks superior size and strength wears spinks down; Berbick by tko in 12.
