I think this one is interesting. Both about the same size. I think Leon has the style to trouble Marvis, but Frazier is more disciplined. Heart is about equal. What do you guys think?
8 rounds: Spinks decision. 10 rounds Marvis. 12 rounds could even be a draw. 15 got to give it to Spinks as Marvis never fought that distance.
This is a good matchup that I would never have thought of, when we look at everything we have to favor Leon Spinks, still his win against even if it was the old Muhammad Ali is worth more than all Marvis Frazier's wins...
Frazier is the better fighter in my book, and the guy I'd likely favor here... If it goes far, a stoppage is not out of the picture. I love Spinks but his resume doesn't size up, and I'd bet on him to lose to a decent bit of the fighters that Marvis beat. Compare Broad, Bugner, Benton, Tillis, Ribalta, and Smith, against Ali (after 18 years as a pro), Evangelista, and Mercado. Better by eye test and better in record.
Both are quite underrated.. Leon Spinks like Mike Tyson quickly gave up boxing and his prime was extremely short but in form with Ali 1 he was an elite fighter who should have been even better. Frazier as for. few fights have really great names on his CV but he chose a terribly difficult path. Prime Holmes, prime Tyson.. like Cleveland Williams who fought prime Liston and prime Ali, could it have been worse? after all if his dad Joe had met someone like Foreman before 1968 we might have forgotten about him long ago like we did about Rademacher. Some choose too difficult a path. As for their fight it's 50-50 but I think Spinks.. both very, very talented.
