Leon Spinks vs Zora Folley., Both Prime. Could Spinks just walk over Folley? Or would Zora out box Leon like he did to Oscar Bonavena?

Spinks has the better chin. Late KO for Spinks, like 9.

I agree that could happen. But if Zora makes I the distance then he likely gets the decision. Folley was the better boxer

that's true, I do think Zora has the potential to beat Spinks, and he was far greater than Spinks, but I see it as highly improbably he could make it through the contest without getting nailed by the bigger, powerful Spinks. If Leon can turn this into a slugfest for any amount of time with Zora, he might win it.

was Spinks really bigger than Folley ? They both stood exactly 6’1” and their weights both fluctuated between 190-205 during their prime years. Leon’s reach was 76 inches while Foley’s was 77. And sure Spinks could bang a bit but was he really a big puncher ? I mean how many quality men did he Ko ? And Folley defeated guys like Eddie Machen, George Chuvalo, Henry Cooper and Bob Cleroux when they were prime among others. The more I think about it the less I like Leon to win this fight

I just checked and ur absolutely right. Same height, but Folley actually was normally heavier. I do not measure knockout power by the opponents you knock out. I do not dispute that Folley has a tremendous resume, one of the best of any heavyweight vs. Leon's which is poor for a one-time champion. However, Folley, in his prime, was KO'd by Alejandro Lavorante. Who's he?

Spinks on points or by stoppage. Folley doesn't have the workrate to match him, the power to deter him, or the style to out-brawl him.

Spinks from Mercado/Ali I wins this.

Lavorante in the grand scheme of things was a nobody. But he was a big man with a very big punch and one who was primarily beaten by top flight fighters. Folley had his share of bad fights no doubt and a questionable chin. But he was also in there with some of the greatest fighters of all time, beat a lot of contenders and was ranked by ring for 11 years which is longer than any sort of career Leon had. This is a hard fight to judge and I can understand some of the stylistic arguments which would favor Spinks. I’m just not as confident as some who are picking him and in fact am slightly leaning towards Folley.

I'm split on the matter. As for resume and experience it's no contest. It seems Folley would run circles around Spinks, and win an easy UD. On the other hand, due to Folley's chin and Leon's workrate, I would favor Spinks against Folley. Clearly, in a slugfest, Folley would last no more than a few rounds.

Alejandro Lavorante fought Muhammad Ali in 1962, and was kayoed. I believe that he lost to Archie Moore too.
