McPhilben jabs and circles either way, holding back. Williams tries to bob in on him. Several consecutive clinches. McPhilben ensnares Williams' arms and wrestles him back to the ropes. Big wide pendulums to the body as McPhilben chases Williams back. Clinch. McPhilben gets the official's finger wagged in his face, perhaps about leading with his head. Right hand by McPhilben. Williams stalks forward and pecks the body with jabs, hitting elbow. Clinch. McPhilben dances toward a corner, high guard up. Quick chopping combo by McPhilben. Another clinch and Williams pushes down on his head.

Round 4

Williams ducks in, earmuffs on. McPhilben flurries at his head and hips. Uppercut attempted inside by Williams. McPhilben is pushed into a corner, and hooked in the face. Digging body shots by Williams in the clinch. They jab at each other and miss. Then Williams jabs in and they tie up momentarily. McPhilben jabs his way off the ropes and winds up bulldozing Williams into the ropes and leaning on him there. Williams edges forward, left arm low. Uppercut inside by Williams, just grazing. Again Williams bobs in, just barely ducking a sweeping pair of cuts by McPhilben. Clinch. Williams digs rights to the kidney area. Time out. Mouthpiece? Eh, whatever. Time in. Jabs by Williams. McPhilben dances away, toward the ropes. McPhilben jumps into Williams' arms throwing a wide shot. Flurries by Williams.

39-36 Williams

 

Round 5

Jabs by Williams bump McPhilben on the nose and drive him back. Body shots by Williams. Wide hooking combos by McPhilben, slapping at the sides of Williams' head as he weaves in and grabs. Lots of behind-the-back shots as they're clamped together. Williams comes forward, not punching. McPhilben backs up all the way to the ropes and then flurries out wide before circling some more, all around the length of the ring at the perimeter. Williams hooks away at the body until McPhilben ties him up, breathing heavily. Right hand by McPhilben, meant to buy him some respect. Williams keeps coming, jabbing low. McPhilben dances away, covering up on the ropes as Williams swings away with golf drives to the body. Williams is much busier. There's that inside uppercut by Williams. They flurry at the same time and knock each other's fists away.

Round 6

Williams harasses McPhilben back to the ropes and flurries at him, pushing him back against them. McPhilben's back is leaned over the top rope and the referee applies a count!!! McPhilben is not pleased but bites his tongue. Williams comes forward and reaches in with whipping shots. McPhilben ties him up. Williams works the body. McPhilben circles away, guarding high and up on his toes. McPhilben is trying to catch Williams coming in with a wide left hook. Now McPhilben takes surer and faster steps away, making Williams run after him and straight onto a stiff jab.

Round 7

McPhilben is getting busier now, jabbing and working long uppercuts to the body that have very little bend to them and are almost underhanded straight rights. Williams is doing little but wait for him or launch single right hands diving in to meet him. McPhilben works his way in and out with jabs and overhands. Whipping right hand by Williams sends him stepping quickly back to the ropes for a moment. Williams is upon him and they clinch. Body slashes by McPhilben. Jabs by Williams into the guard. McPhilben circles right, then left. Left hook to the head by McPhilben as Williams is ducking in on him.

Round 8

They've only barely gotten started and McPhilben has to be attended by his corner. Wardrobe malfunction? No matter. Back to business. They flurry in close for a moment until McPhilben steps back and Williams lets him go while hunkered down in the blocking position he'd assumed. Williams presses McPhilben to the ropes and again bats away at him until he leans back against them. McPhilben circles away lobbing loose jabs and rights. Williams is marching at him but not throwing anything until he's right up close. Now a few lunging jabs on the way in by Williams. Clinch. Williams ducks a jab and lands his own. McPhilben dances almost into a corner and slides down the ropes. They trade, both ducking and swerving wildly in the pocket and launching uppercuts. The ref gives McPhilben a very stern warning about something. Jab into a flurry by McPhilben, and Williams flurries back while marching him onto the back foot. Another clinch. Williams taps the body while tied up. McPhilben complains of kidney shots.

Round 9

McPhilben flurries wide around the back as Williams does the same. McPhilben backs up and jabs until Williams bowls into him and then the ref interrupts to give McPhilben a very stern lecture, up in his face and browbeating him all the way into a corner. No point taken, though. Williams dives in and taps the body. McPhilben tries to catch Williams in the crook of one arm and uppercut him with the other. McPhilben dances away, high guarding. Williams jabs ineffectively into his forearms while running toward him. Body shot by Williams. High 1-2 by Williams, crashing into McPhilben's guard and putting him back on the ropes. Headbutt. Slapping right hand to the top of the head by McPhilben as they're diving back together. Another short tap behind it as Williams holds on. Williams bobs in, pecking with jabs and rights and blocking the wide stuff of McPhilben.

Round 10

McPhilben backs up to a corner and throws a 'stay away' 1-2. McPhilben isn't much interested in fighting anymore. Williams comes at him and he ties up. They spin out of the clinch, and McPhilben turns his back on Williams to flop his chest over the top rope. McPhilben looks very tired. Williams comes forward trying to size up McPhilben for an uppercut but is throwing them in mid-step from outside. One point is taken from McPhilben for fouls (not sure whether butts or low blows; the ref kept tapping his own inner thigh in pantomime to clarify after raising his single index finger to alert the judges as to the deduction), and he gets another earful from the ref. McPhilben looks ready to quit. Williams lands a good clubbing right coming forward as McPhilben ducks back. Williams bangs him into the ropes and catches him flopping forward into a clinch. Williams chases and jabs, until McPhilben puts him in a headlock. The ref isn't brooking much nonsense, not allowing McPhilben to hold long at all. Accidental head clash and both exhale sharply through their noses, maybe trying to blow out any blood that's in there.

Round 11

Williams slips to the canvas after a clinch. No knockdown. Williams comes forward as McPhilben tries to stave him off with short hooks and jabs. Williams isn't throwing anything, just walking and blocking. McPhilben raises his arms to tangles him up and shoves him back to get off the ropes. Jab to the body by Williams. Slapping hook to the ear by McPhilben. Quick trot to the right by McPhilben, and then he gets Williams tangled in yet another arm-knot. Jab by McPhilben while circling rapidly a two-step either way. They clinch and club both ways. They spin out of a clinch and McPhilben goes headfirst between the top and middle rope. Williams is deducted a point for having tossed him!! Thirty seconds left. McPhilben dances to the ropes and wings out some wide hooks as Williams walks forward. McPhilben is landing pretty well.

Round 12

Big right hand from McPhilben as soon as they come out of their corners, and DOWN GOES WILLIAMS!! Wow. He's pretty shaken. He takes most of the count, but beats it. McPhilben bangs away!! WILD HAYMAKERS!!! WILLIAMS DOWN AGAIN!!! SCRAMBLING, SLOWLY SCRAPING HIMSELF UP! A TORRENT OF UPPERCUTS FROM MCPHILBEN!! WILLIAMS HANGS ON FOR DEAR LIFE! Clubbing right by McPhilben, and he chases Williams back to the ropes. Williams leans away and covers his head with one arm. BIG SHOTS BY MCPHILBEN!! Williams not defending, getting rocked!!
