Do you agree that Sugar Ray un-deservingly recieved status as a champ in 5 divisions?? The entire Lalonde situation just bewilders me and actually makes me sick. How can you fight at the limit of 168lb's and be considered a 175lb champion:-(...absolutely disgusting. That situation was a blackmark on boxing, no man is bigger than the sport and it showed how one figure could manipulated a situation to his benefit.

From this day forward Leonard should be officially a 4 weight champion NOT 5. Anyone disagree, please state your premise:good

SRL & the WBC orchestrated it and Lalande took the money & ran.

Instead I wish it have been.....in this corner at 6'2", 175 lbs Michael Spinks....now we are talking real lightheavyweight champions.....and Ray would have had more than second thoughts.

Agree. As mentioned if it had been Michael Spinks in the opposite corner we wouldn't even be discussing this.

I never understood why Leonard isn't recognized as two-time middleweight champion. When he beat Duran, who was the reigning WBC champ, both were under 160 lbs.

His greatness is what gives him the 5 title status. Back in 1987 Hearns was the first one to win titles in 4 divisions. Well since that was Leonard's buddy he probably felt he wanted to top it. Well Hearns was going to fight Fulgencio Obelmejias for the WBA title 3 days before Leonard was to fight Lalonde for his below the weight thing for two titles. Fully Obel pulled out of the fight and Tommy fought Kinchen for the new WBO belt. So Hearns is more legit at 5 than Ray, in my mind. Ray never really won the lightheavyweight title since he fought Lalonded when Donny weighed 168.

I agree. Although then you have to say Hearns was a unified 154 pound champ because he fought Duran when Duran was the WBA 154 pound champ. But the WBA stripped Duran for not defending against McCallum

Leonard did not lack skill or heart in the ring, has some of the best wins in histroy, but he will never be one of my fave's. He had alot of brains and planed out his boxing life well and that's something that erk's me.

    Redrooster?

I heard that if you say his name three times he appears.

    Redrooster, redrooster

but wait a minute i dont think Leonard should have done it and it never should have happened

but Lalonde was the Light heavy champ and they fought at under th LHW limt so his title should have been at stake

Did Henry Armstong have titles in different weight divisons?, if he was beaten should his victor obtain all the belts?

Leonard is 1 of my favourite fighters but I regard him as a 4 weight champ that had the ability to become a 5 weight champ legitimately.

After all, he did KO the LHWT champion, albeit at 168.

Same with Duran & RJJ, 4 weight champs that could/should have been 5 weight champs since Duran would have murdered any LWWT champion at the time he fought SRL at WWT & RJJ likewise vs any CWT in the same time frame he beat Ruiz at HWT.

I also dont regard DLH as a 6 weight champ since he never beat Sturm or Hopkins.

Hearns, DLH & Mayweather are the only legit 5 weight champs to me.

    :good

if he had all 3 titles yeh and then he was at FW and lost in a 15 rounder yes IMO he should have lost all his titles

i disagree because these guys did actually win the titles maybe not to your satisfaction but they did do it and taht is some feat by itself
