Ellerbe kept it tame....and for good reason. He doesn't want to bark up the wrong tree messing with Prince again. I'm interested in seeing if Floyd let's Ellerbe do the talking for him or if he has the stones to respond directly to James? I think Floyd got the message after James responded directly to Floyd on his recent comments about Andre.

In other words....Floyd is falling back because his memory is sharp enough to remember James a little better than he would have liked.

Erm, no. I'm saying those fights were challenging because, well, they were challenging. Those guys mentioned were the best and the most threatening in the division at the time.

    • Baldomir - no offence to him, but he was never that good. Screw what the rankings say. You're honestly telling me Marg was not more dangerous than Baldomir? Would I heck would I have accused him of ducking Baldomir?
    • Cotto - When Floyd was at TR, yes, Cotto didn't pursue him. But after that, there are plenty of quotes of Cotto saying he would like to fight Mayweather. Not that it means much, because really, when has Cotto ever called out or chased anyone? He's a silent killer.
    • Williams - he didnt move out of 147 until after Floyd went into retirement if I remember correctly.
The point of mentioning these "challenging fights" is to not say he should have fought each and every one of them back-to-back. Instead, it was to show how ridiculous it is that, when the division is hot and loaded with talent, the best man of that division disappears. When Margarito, Williams, Cotto were in there fighting each other, he should have also been there mixing it up with them. That's what the best of the division are supposed to do. Not retire to completely miss them, and come back to cash up once every 12 months against second tier opposition.

Not hard to stay undefeated when you fight once each year and change and carefully pick your opponents.

How easy is it to stay undefeated for over 15 years, while winning belts across 5 divisions while also being ranked as one of the best fighters in the sport? If what Mayweather is doing is so easy, then all of these other fighters are idiots for not doing the same. He's the highest paid and highest ranked fighter in the sport.

Not taking anything away from Floyd's career as a whole, because he fought some very good talent on the way up, but these last few years have been a jokeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Ortiz? Nothing special. Let's be honest.

JMM? JMM was out of his element coming into that fight. Good win, but a great one? No ****ing way.

Hatton? World class trash. Nothing special. Tough dude. Again, a decent win.

Mosley? Again, solid/good win, but Mosley was a little shop worn and coming off a huge layoff (16 months)

DLH? Competitive fight only proved to me that a prime DLH would have given him lots of trouble. Again, GOOD WIN, not a great one.

None of those wins were great, let alone career defining.

To be real, Cotto was his best win in a long time.

Floyd fans cannot comprehend anything true about him. They believe everything he does is great, that has no flaws because there's no L in his his perfectly managed career/resume.

No what he gave you were facts the rankings you mentioned are opinions(Rankings are way overrated).

It's amazing that there are a group of posters who's entire ESB career revolves around bad-mouthing certain boxers. It's pretty pathetic.

No doubt Leonard is richer/hotter/more athletically fit/insightful than all of us here.

Funny how you guys make fun of the man when he's 100x richer than you and has more women than you guys can dream of.

Didn't you just tell me yesterday that you don't care much about Floyd's career

And today I see you bashing him again on multiple threads.

I'm sorry Vargas turned out to be a ****ing can, don't take it out on Floyd because Vargas can't win big fights. He had to ROID to fight DLH (Whom Floyd completely stomped 9-3), and lost to Tito. Jesus.

Floyd Jr would have never lost to Tito or DLH (At any point of their careers)
