It was even more amazing to me seeing a fighter as good as Duran being unable to do anything about it. I thought Leonard had won every round already, but I knew in round 6 and early in round 7 who was going to win that night.

Leonard was a disgrace for playing cat and mouse during the 2nd fight.

Duran was the last true gentleman in the world when he insulted Leonard's wife before the 1st fight, then shoved him after the fight, in place of embracing in a share of mutual respect, such as shaking his hand

People were indifferent to Leonard's antics at the time. Everyone was preoccupied with trying to understand Duran's shocking decision to quit. That was especially so given that Duran did not appear hurt or stunned at the time.

The only rational explanation for Duran's behavior is that he was suffering from gastronintestinal problems, caused by his gorging food the day of the fight. Witnesses report that after finally making weight, Duran ate massive quantities of steak all day, trying to regain strength.

Duran clearly did not prepare himself for the rematch as well as he had been prepared for the first fight. Not even close. He had starve weight off in the final two weeks prior to the second match. Bad physical preparation, inadequate mental preparation.

Leonard threw Duran a jigsaw puzzle he couldn't solve. The best way to beat Duran wasn't to stand and trade punches. Tough luck for Duran.

The whole thing was a farce.
It's never been explained satisfactorily. They just got away with it.

Sticking your **** in your opponents wife's ***** is a traditional sign of respect in Panamanian culture.

Just as grabbing your balls and telling a potential opponent sitting ringside to suck your dick is an old Panamanian gesture of welcome and friendship.

Roberto Duran is a by-word for sportsmanship.

He said he wanted to poo on her chest. And in so many words that Leonard was inadequate in the poo department.
