    After reading the thread on what got people hooked on boxing I read that this fight had alot of people instantly hooked ..So here is the end of the fight ..SRL is a warrior !

    Funny how Richard Steele let that go on after the 1st knockdown but wouldnt let Meldrick Taylor go on for 2 more seconds.

    Yup, it definitely got me hooked. It wasn't even SRL's best fight. It was just the circumstances surrounding it that made it so compelling.

    Before the KO Lalonde had SRL hurt ..I remember as a kid they were hyping this fight on the wwf shows ..This was a huge fight ..

    haha, damn right. and wow, sugar ray earned some respect with that one. lalonde wasn't much of a fighter but he had a ****ing cannon of a right hand.

    oh and yeah, if you think taylor was worse of than lalonde in that last round, i think you're seeing the world through chavez eyes. this should have been stopped after that first knockdown but wasn't. lalonde was WAY worse off than TNT was and yet some magical force didn't compel him to end this one so quickly...

    this was one of my favourite fights growing up, classic SRL fighting through adversity in that fight after getting knocked down and cut. lalonde wasn't the best fighter but was naturally much bigger but ray adapted in the ring and ended up taking the fight to lalonde. SRL was a truely great finisher once he got a man in trouble.
